Pretty impressive so far considering Haren has to face 9 hitters and Mulder only has to face 7/8.

Pretty comparable stats... Mulder is 7-3 and Haren is 3-7 so that's what sets them a part.
Wins/Losses aren't up to a pitcher and are completely overrated. Put Mulder on the A's and he loses, put Haren on the Cards and he wins, run support depends entirely on the offense and not on the pitcher, that's why I didn't list that.

Probably every once in a while.

Almost everyone thought this was a horrible trade for the A's when it went down... But the way it's looking now it looks like it has the potential to be one of the most lopsided trades of all time... In the A's favor.

it was a better deal
To people who actually pay attention and/or follow the team... To everyone else, the sky was falling in Oakland.

Mulder got lit up this morning... Haren is now better than Mulder in all categories except walks, where Haren has 4 more, but Haren has given up less hits, pitched more and his WHIP is better.

From FSN:

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK - Oakland's Revamped Rotation
Since June 1, A's starters have posted these stats:

Dan Haren: 43 2/3 IP, 5 Wins, 3.09 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 30/6 K/BB
Barry Zito: 38 1/3 IP, 3 Wins, 3.05 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 29/17 K/BB
Rich Harden: 17 2/3 IP, 3 Wins, 0.51 ERA, 0.56 WHIP, 11/3 K/BB
Joe Blanton: 43 2/3 IP, 5 Wins, 2.06 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 28/9 K/BB

Compare that to:

Tim Hudson: 13 1/3 IP, 0 Wins, 7.90 ERA, 2.05 WHIP, 8/11 K/BB, on DL with another oblique injury.
Mark Mulder: 26 1/3 IP, 2 Wins, 7.18 ERA, 1.82 WHIP, 17/10 K/BB

Granted, one good month-plus doesn't prove anything, but Billy Beane is again looking like a genius, and the A's are shaping up not only in the rotation, but also the bullpen (Huston Street, Justin Duchscherer, Kiko Calero, Jairo Garcia, Chad Bradford... ). They currently sit just six games out of the wildcard spot and could make a serious second-half push if they get any hitting (big if). It's just too bad that two of their biggest trade chips - Octavio Dotel and Erubiel Durazo - are injured.

They HAD to get rid of Hudson because there was no way they could keep him.

Mulder had 2 years on his contract, they didn't HAVE to trade him so soon and that's why there was so much backlash about that trade. That's why I put this up in the first place.

The Hudson deal was get anything you can from the NL or let him walk and get one draft pick. Having 3 guys that are at least AAA ready is still better than getting 1 draft pick or playing against him all year.

I don't know that there was a better deal out there.

But right now Juan Cruz is tearing up AAA now that he's been converted back to a starter. A couple weeks ago he set the Rivercats strikeout record and had only pitched like 6 innings. Meyer was hurt but is doing better now that he came back from the DL. Thomas might end up being a AAAA player.
