Report: Tatupu gets DUIPosted by Darrin Beene @ 12:43:28 pm

Frank just called me with this. He said he's trying to get a police report, and he'll have more details later. Anyway:

According to a report on KJR 950-AM, Seahawks middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu was arrested late Friday – or one day after the team's minicamp ended – on a DUI charge.

The report when on to say Tatupu's blood alcohol level was .15.

Tatupu's car impounded after being stopped Saturday by police

Associated Press

KIRKLAND, Wash.
-- Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu was arrested during the weekend for investigation of drunken driving.

The three-time Pro Bowler was stopped early Saturday, Kirkland police said. An arrest report said Tatupu had breath tests of .155 and .158 -- the legal limit is .08.

The arresting officer wrote he saw a car driven by Tatupu speeding and changing lanes without signaling. The officer said he smelled alcohol, and Tatupu said he had not been drinking.

Tatupu's car was impounded and he was taken to the police station for a breath test.

The Seahawks signed Tatupu to a $42 million contract extension in March.

He was arrested in Kirkland not Florida or California or some shit. How the fuck you gonna arrest the home teams pro bowl MLB?

Yeah he was double the legal limit (which really aint shit) but how the fuck can I get driven home by the cops when I easily would have blown a .25 but Lofa Tatupu can't?

^^I know. If I were a cop (which is the stupidest thing I've ever said in my life) I'd just give the guy a ride home. Or make him give me tickets on the 50 yard line at the very most.

I mean, that's like the Vatican police arresting the Pope for touching a kid.

Of course the cops did the right thing, you can't just not enforce this stuff or somebody (maybe one of you fools) will get killed.

But that being said, to all you guys worried about any potential punishment affecting our football team, do not worry about that, no chance he misses any time. If they're going to allow their radio color guy to get multiple DUIs and not discipline him, then be assured they won't be any tougher on their stud MLB.

This is unfortunate but not football team affecting.

First mistake = drinking

Second mistake = driving

Third mistake = Drinking, driving..in KIRKLAND off the STRIP

From what I have heard, Kirkland has one of the highest DUI arrestsin the COUNTRY. Everyone knows that you DO NOT drink and drive there. Appearntly, Lofa didnt get that memo.

This was posted on the Hawks board over on ESPN:

Was out at the Timeout in Kirkland last night, me and some buddies ran into Lofa Tatupu. I took a cab home, they stayed out, later on my they ran into him around 2:30-3 am in front of the timeout and one of my friends said " sweet arm sleeve" to him. Him and his boys got all bent out of shape and started following them trying to fight walking up 85th. One of my buddies wifes picked them up and they proceded to go to the McDonalds on 85th and 124th to get food. 20 seconds later Lofa pulls in, driving a Kia Sephia bwaha... with his 4 boys riding with him. As they pull in a Kirkland cop pulled Lofa over. When they left there were 2 Kirkland cop cars there and Lofa was doing a sobriety test.
And then everyone laughed at the OP for posting this. ANd then it came true. And then I lauged at everyone for callin him a liae.

damn, that really ruins Lofa's clean cut image. And damn, a Kia? Really?

And yeah, "downtown" kirkland is a horrible, horrible place to drink and drive. I have a friend that got two DUI's IN ONE NIGHT in Kirkland (got a DUI, went to jail, they let him go same night, idiot gets his car, drives, gets popped again, still drunk).

I think Lofa was driving a Kia/Hyundai beause he wanted to a) keep a low profile, b) didnt wanna drink and drive in a nice car and fuck THAT up, or c) he was driving his buddies car.

Either way, you dont wanna drive a fuckin Ferarri down the Kirkland strip...thats just puttin up neon lights for the cops to bust your ass.

Tatupu pleads guilty to DUI charge, sentenced to one day in jail

Associated Press

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence on Monday.
Lofa Tatupu, MLB
Seattle Seahawks

Career statistics:
Tackles: 335
Sacks: 6.5
INTs: 8
Years: 3

After his plea, Tatupu was sentenced by Kirkland Municipal Court Judge Michael Lambo to serve one day in jail and pay fines totaling $1,255.

Tatupu was arrested May 10 in Kirkland after he was pulled over for speeding and driving erratically.

At the police station two hours later, Tatupu registered 0.155 and 0.158 in breath test readings, nearly twice the state intoxication threshold of 0.08.

On March 25, the Seahawks signed the 25-year-old Tatupu to a six-year, $42 million contract extension.
