Logged onto facebook today & on the side where they have random advertisments they had this ad so i grabbed a pic of it.

Nice to see they are expanding their promo to networking sites.

Anyone else notice promotion like this?

I have tech as a facebook friend... does that factor into the ad generation? I saw it too.

The ad generation is done by targeted marketing...as an advertiser you select what regions, demo's, and key words to link your ad too. Facebook then uses your guidelines to place ads where they are appropriate.
