According to Sue Johanson on the Sunday Night Sex Show, the amount of
birth defects to children concieved by closely related parents is not
as severe as most people thought. The risk is still there but the risk
falls at less than 1 out of 10. To put it more precisely, the product
from closely related parents (i.e. cousins) would only face a 1.7% - 2%
chance at the most in terms of birth defects on their offspring.
This basicaly disproves the common belief that incest always causes birth defects. Well it does, but to significantly lesser degree from what was normally to believed.
This also redefines the term "keeping in the family."
