@Tadou,
Hitler was a devout Christian, not an Atheist. To deny Hitler's Christianity is to ignore history and bar yourself from understanding German anti-Semitism.
"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord." -
Hitler, Mein Kampf
"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth!" -
Adolf Hitler, 12 April 1922
Hitler's anti-Semitism grew out of his Christian education. Jewish hatred did not spring from Hitler; it came from the preaching of Catholic priests and Protestant ministers throughout Germany for hundreds of years. The Protestant leader, Martin Luther, held a livid hatred for Jews and their Jewish religion (see his book "On the Jews and their Lies").
I can quote Hitler and Martin Luther for days regarding their religion and their hatred for others.
As for Stalin, he was raised Catholic and actually studied to become a priest before getting involved in the revolutionary movement. Once he rose to power, there is no question that he implemented a totalitarian dictatorship and focused a lot of enmity towards the church in Russia. But whether or not Stalin was Atheist is not the question, the question is if he committed these crimes against the religious in the name of Atheism and what were his motives?
If you'd like, I can explain what his reasoning was behind this. I will say that it was not because of Atheism; Stalin did not want to share his power with anyone, he wanted to be the absolute leader of Russia and become godlike himself. Recognizing the church as the only significant rival to his supremacy (after he wiped out the true Bolsheviks and other political adversaries) he attacked it. His attacks had nothing to do with ideological differences; it was a simple question of his stamping out a perceived threat. Further, in WWII Stalin reinstated the Orthodox Church hierarchy to serve 'Mother Russia' as means to gain support and prevent a possible revolution. This shows that Stalin was by no means reluctant to promote religion if it suited his purposes.
Regardless, a few bad atheists does not make atheists in general bad people, if that were the case, then the blood spilled by religious beliefs is far more than enough to label all theists bad people.
And yes, it matters very much. You sucker atheists are just waiting for a leader for your movement, and you'll probably never find them. And
why? Because nobody but hippie-ass, middle-class college students admire atheism.
Most of the world hates each other, but the one thing we do agree on:
Atheism is for nobodies.
Really? Obviously you're unaware of the large Atheistic populations of the world, such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Japan, Finland, Belgium, France, Germany, England, etc. Only in backward or brainwashed countries will you find such hatred and intolerance for anything different.
