Check Flickr, after you sign in with a flickr account or any yahoo account go to search > advanced search and from there you can check the Creative Commons-licensed content towards the bottom for some free shit. I just started doing this.

^^^that too, but you gotta watch out for copyrights/etc. the thing with the stock image sites is they are royalty free and you are "officially" allowed to use them for your projects.

now, with that being said, google is also one of my main sources because i mainly do small independent mixtape cover so its no big deal.
