Consider this:

Build your own computer: $400
PC monitor: $130
StAudio C-Port Dsp2000 (soundcard w/8ins&outs): $400
Studio Projects C1: $200
Recording Software: $150?

That will give you a good (if not better) sound with a whole lot more power. The problem is, starting from scratch, you probably won't have enough to cop both recording equipment and musical equipment for under $1500, unless you do all your beats on software. In that case:
Drum Sampler: $100
3 or 4 decent synths: $150 total

Either way, the pc route will definitely give you more bang for your buck when you're recording.

THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU IS DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON BULLSHIT...DO THE RESERCH, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON STUFF THAT ISNT UP TO PAR, OR ELSE AFTER A LITTLE WHILE YOU WILL REALIZE YOU CANT DO THE THINGS YOU WANT TO WITH IT, THEN YOU WILL HAVE SPENT ALL YOUR MONEY ON USELESS STUFF. TAKE YOUR TIME AND BE PATIENT ABOUT IT, IT TOOK ME 3 YEARS TO FINALLY GET A GOOD SET-UP THAT IS QUALITY, SO WITH THE STUFF I HAVE NOW, I SPENT CLOSE TO 6000.00
BUT IF YOU ADD IN ALL THE BULLSHIT I BOUGHT THAT I DIDNT NEED AND COULDNT GIVE AWAY AFTER I DIDNT WANT IT ANYMORE, THAT PRICE JUMPS TO ABOUT 8500.00 SO BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU GET.....THATS JUST MY 2 CENTZ

Expandable Instruments and Computers you can add to... Fixed instruments are nice but you can get bored with them. As well as small mixers, subpar preamps, mics.... Anything you can see your self using in 5 years is a good choice.
