MONTREAL - A high school secretary fired for her extracurricular activities as a porn actress is vowing to fight for her job.
The woman — known by her adult-film moniker as Samantha Ardente — was suspended last month from the Quebec school after a student spotted her in a porn video on the Internet.
The Quebec City-area school board fired Ardente on Thursday after deeming her moonlighting endeavours to be "inappropriate" and "unacceptable."
But Ardente, who has appeared in several porn flicks, including "Serial Abusers 2," will appeal the board's decision — even though she is expecting a year-long fight.
"I'm going to contest it. . . I'm going to go all the way," she told The Canadian Press on Friday in an interview.
She insists her high-profile dismissal is not about to propel her to adult-film stardom — because that gig is also over.
Ardente, who last shot a scene in an adult film a couple of months ago, said she had already decided before the controversy that she didn't want a career in porn.
"It's an experience in my life that's now in the past," said the 30-year-old, who goes by her stage name to protect her daughters' identities.
"So for those who think my (adult-film) career has now been launched, well, I'm not going to take advantage of it."
She said she agreed to each of the school board's conditions in order to hang on to her job: a workplace transfer, a three-week suspension without pay, and a pledge in writing to never again perform in an adult film.
But she said that wasn't enough for the school board, which proposed additional conditions that she argues torpedoed any possibility of a deal.
The mother of two believes they would have dictated her personal life.
"I'll give you one example: I asked them if I could be a ring girl at a boxing match in a swimsuit . . . but they refused," Ardente said.
"As it would have been impossible for me to show myself in public in a swimsuit . . . for me (an agreement) was no longer possible.
"It really would have controlled my life."
Ardente, who had been a school-board employee for nine years, said she was also asked to quit another passion she had on the side: modelling for photo shoots.
"I was asked to stop these activities — even in a swimsuit," she said.
The school board justified its decision to let her go by saying it was unable to reach agreement on her transfer to another job.
"We believe that the facts and the actions that led to this incident are inappropriate, unacceptable and incompatible, not only with our mission, but also with the values that we hope to convey to our young students," school board chairman Leopold Castonguay said in a statement.
"Under the circumstances, we believe that we have been open and have proposed appropriate measures."
The 14-year-old student who first recognized Ardente from the film had tried to get her autograph. She asked him to keep his discovery a secret from his classmates at the Levis school, across the St. Lawrence River from Quebec City.
But the kid let the cat out of the bag.
Word of the video spread quickly through the school and, before long, students were forwarding each other the Internet links.
Then, the story made international headlines.
Ardente never expected the scandal to attract so much attention, including a call from the American tabloid TV show "Inside Edition."
She initially thought it was "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" calling, as one media outlet reported, but that turned out to be a misunderstanding.
Ardente said people now recognize her on the street and even stop to ask for her autograph or to take a photo with her.
But her No. 1 priority right now, she said, is to find a new job.
"It's definitely had an impact on my life — there's been lots of pressure, stress," Ardente said.
