OAKLAND -- A girl who suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head just before midnight Monday in Oakland may have been the victim of a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting, police said Tuesday.
The female juvenile victim was in an apartment when the drive-by shooting occurred in the 8200 block of MacArthur Boulevard, according to officials.
Four other victims were struck with bullets and found in the street by responding authorities, according to officials.
Those victims were transported to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.
Officers canvassing the area after the shooting then located the girl in an apartment suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, according to officials.
The girl was transported to an area hospital as well, police said.
No suspect information was immediately available.
