"You can't get past that shotgun jab! That jab was knockin' his hair down! And for me, personally, I didn't like the hairdo. I would've cut the hair bald. Look at the psychological advantage. ... When they see the hair fly, the hair waving, it could be a punch that glanced you, but to the judges it looks like you got your wig knocked back. Those small, subtle things." - Bernard Hopkins, Octber 17th 2015.

Hopkins and De la Hoya sound kind of salty.

Saw Chris Eubank jr talking about fighting Ggg, (he's not ready) but good to see fighters want the challenge.

Anybody else see ggg get rocked by Lemiux? Maybe in the 6thround or something, ggg got hit and took a step back to check his legs? He recovered quick but I hoped it would inspire other fighters to get in with him.

I'd like to see Quillen fight ggg, just cuz he talked a lot of bs before ggg became ppv worthy. He said ggg looked like food, but after his fight with Jacobs he won't say nothing. He'll probably rematch lee

Then you say he beat Tszyu in his last fight and the ref was biased since they were in England. All judges had Hatton ahead and Tszyu QUIT.
Tbf, Hatton would have gotten away with murder in that fight. Look at the blatant lowblows he got away with lol. In any other venue outside of England he would have been firstly warned and then dq'd. I will never give Hatton full credit for that fight. It reminded me so much of the Loma-Salido fight. Fuck those refs

I only saw one low blow which is the one he gave Tszyu AFTER Tszyu gave him in a flurry. (Just watched the fight again after the back and forth between myself and Trip.)

I'll give him full credit. He smothered Tszyu, fought at a fast pace and dominated him.

Those aren't official numbers fight hype even says that on their website but who cares? The reason it was on PPV was to be able to pay the purse. They couldn't get Lemieux as an opponent for the budget regular HBO would have put up and they would have lost the fight. Like K2 said long before the event, they don't care if it does big numbers or not the point was to make a unification fight.

That's a good example of why fight hype is a shitty website - they do stuff like that for views because they know no one has the numbers so they'll be the first to "break the story" even though HBO doesn't even know the numbers yet Ben Thompson does lol ok

Actually it isn't a flop. Based on the predictions they made weeks before the fight 150k was the break even point. 300k-500k was a "smash" (their words not mine.) And with Floyd vs Pac putting a dent in pockets, as well as the Cotto vs Canelo fight, they did wise to set their numbers where they did.

Good job.

Canelo says " 155 or no fight" ? Damn.

Middleweight unification by forfeiture it looks like.
Outrageous isn't it? That Canelo rehydrates to 174 pounds on fight night, which is more than Golovkin who was 168 in the ring against Lemieux and he has the nerve to say his body needs another "year or two" to be ready for 160. If he beats Cotto, he will be THE lineal middleweight champion of the world.

Hopefully he's willing to bend and they can work out a 157-158 pound catchweight, which I think Golovkin would be willing to do. Otherwise if I'm K2/GGG, I'm enforcing that mandatory, let Canelo be stripped of his belt and embarrass him, then move on. I'd go for Andy Lee and/or Quillin, then go up to 168 and fight Ward if he is still there and finished with his tune up fights by then.

Cotto on the otherhand said a couple days ago he's down for a Golovkin fight if he beats Canelo. I seriously imagined the roles reversed and didn't think Canelo would pussy out like this, being that he's Mexican where pride is taken so seriously. I'm really disappointed in the ginger and it's so frustrating because Canelo vs Golovkin would be a MASSIVE event for boxing. It just doesn't get any bigger than that (not including Mayweather or Pacquiao).

That's funny. The catch weight might actually hurt him more than ggg, ha!

This is a bad look for canelo. Saying this, way before they would even fight, and saying this the week after ggg stomps Lemieux. Did de la Hoya tell him to say this? I'm disappointed as well.

GGG and his camp have already stated that he still wants to fight3-4 times a year. If Canelo is to win, he will schedule his title defense right after a GGG fight. Meaning GGG will fight Andy Lee (hopefully) for a unification and Canelo will hopefully fight GGG by next September. I don't think there will be a catchweight if they are to fight but if GGG wants to fight him that soon then I think Canelo will ask for a catchweight. I mean, is GGG actually willing to go to PBC to fight the winner of Jacobs/Quillin? I think not so saying he really wants to unify the belts is an excuse for him to pick and choose who he wants to fight and when.

And by the way, Canelo ain't scared of shit! He fought Trout after he beat Cotto, Angulo after he did damage to Lara, and Lara after the fact that Lara is viewed to a lot of people that he can beat both Canelo and Mayweather. Now he's fighting Cotto in a fight in which will more than likely be a war and to defend the 160 title by April, in which the WBC wants it to be, he's gonna ask for some form of an advantage. ALL FIGHTERS DO THAT NOWADAYS! Thanks to Floyd and Manny

PBC doesn't have any belts so I have no idea what you're talking about. Danny Jacobs has an interim title to the WBA, which obviously isn't considered a world championship. All it means is he is mandatory if he wants to actually enforce it (which he's shown absolutely no desire to do so). Golovkin owns the WBA world championship belt. The only belts left to unify is the WBC belt, which Cotto has, and the WBO which Andy Lee has.

I never said Canelo didn't talk about the catchweight, I actually said that if GGG wants the fight immediately Canelo has reason to ask for catchweight.
And Golovkin has reason to tell him to kick rocks and take his title anyway. The beauty of the mandatory is that you can't lean on that shit and keep your title.

I don't think it's as cut and dry as Golovkin will just tell him to fuck himself and keep the WBC strap because there's so much money involved. They'd be ridiculous to not sit and negotiate with the winner of the fight, but being able to pressure them into a purse bid is a fantastic fall back in case he doesn't want to fight you.
