I think 50 is worth more than the $155 mill forbes say he's worth. The $17 mill he owes from one lawsuit and $5 mill from another is a shit load of money to just cough up in 1 year tho. But yeah, he's smart as fuck for filing but it can ruin his reputation as far as his raps are concerned. What is he gonna rap about now? Being back in the kitchen, for reals?

like who? 4.4 million, even if that is all he had, is a shit ton of money. No where close to being broke.
It's confusing because the title of the tread is "For anyone who thinks these rappers are really ballin..." - when in fact, 50 Cent has been ballin.

Just because he rents cars and jewelry doesn't mean hes not ballin - and anyone who has $4.4MM liquid certainly qualifies as ballin.

He filed for Chapter 11. This is not the same type of bankruptcy your broke uncles have had to file.

He's saying his liquid cash is 4.4mil, therefore he cannot pay the lady 5 (she is also requesting like 15 mil or so in punitive damages). The rest of his many many millions are tied up in companies that he owns or partially owns, stocks, bonds, trusts etc... This is all a strategic move on his part in hopes of reducing the amount of money he is going to have to pay.

His court case is against 50 cent the PERSON, not 50 cent the ENTERPRISE. Businesses and people are viewed separately in the courts.

He is gaming the system, and doing a good ass job of it. Props 50
exactly. Chapter 11 is more of a restructuring of wealth process, it's not what people think bankruptcy is, that's Chapter 7, which is "I'm broke" and they then have to liquidize all of your assets (seize everything you have and turn it into money by selling it). rich people don't just have hundreds of millions sitting in their bank accounts, and they can't exactly just pull out 5 million to pay something off overnight. 50 is probably just restructuring a lot of his assets in case there is a judgement and he does have to basically pay it off right then.
