Michael Bargo was sentenced to death for being the supposed mastermind of the murder of 15-year-old Shea Jackson. Five teenagers were convicted for killing Jackson and burning his remains.
A 21-year-old man was sentenced to death in Florida for concocting what the judge called "the most cold, calculated and premeditated" case of murder he had seen.
Michael Bargo was sentenced to death by Circuit Judge David Eddy in Marion County court Friday for the brutally violent murder of 15-year-old Seath Jackson in an Ocala home by five teenagers.
Authorities identified Bargo as the ringleader and said he was caught in a love triangle with the victim's ex-girlfriend.
Jackson was shot in the face and then his body was dismembered and burned. His remains were hidden in 5-gallon paint drums.
"This is the most cold, calculated and premeditated case of murder I have ever seen," Eddy said, according to TV Station FOX 35 in Orlando Fla.
Bargo maintained to the station after the sentencing that he didn't commit the crime, calling the evidence lies that were "beyond ridiculous," but he did not have much to say to refute the charges.
"First of all I didn't kill him and second of all I met this dude like twice," he told the station. "I feel bad for all of them (in the victim's family) that have to go through this like they are. … I still don't know what I feel."
When asked how to explain himself that people think he's a murderer he responded he's "the person that didn't do that."
Bargo is now the youngest of the 404 people on Florida's death row.
The victim was lured to the home where he was killed by Bargo and four others. Amber Wright, 17; Kyle Hooper, 19; Charlie Kay Ely, 21; and Justin Soto, 22 - have all been sentenced to life in prison. Bargo was the last to be sentenced.
Jackson was Wright's ex-boyfriend, and authorities said Bargo was involved in a love triangle with the other two so plotted to kill Jackson, reported TV Station WESH in Orlando.
The suspects beat Jackson with pieces of wood and further tortured Jackson after he was shot multiple times with a .22 caliber gun, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Jackson tried to escape his teenage killers but they captured him and shot him again, the Sentinel reported.
The violence continued as they took Jackson's body to a bathtub and tried to break his knees so he would fit into a bag, the Sentinel reported.
They later burned his body in an outdoor barbecue pit instead. His ashes were scooped up and hidden in paint cans.
Authorities said Bargo was the mastermind of the plot and was the one who pulled the trigger.
He was convicted in August of the crime. The jury voted 10-2 that he be given the death penalty.
