USB 2 is the better deal. Although there is a Firewire 800 out also. If you have USB 1.1, you're going to be waiting big time.

buy the enclosure seprate and then stick an internal hd in it. You will get more space for what you are trying to spend.

ummm but make sure u have a 2.0 usb card or u wont get that full speed....
i have 1.0 card capability on my usb so it sucx ass as far as uploading goes and any big ass gfile transfer's

ehhh-i bought an iomega 80gb at frys when they had the $40 rebates - so it was basically $60. Works fine for me, but i wasnt expecting too much.

Unfortunately i've filled it up with movies, videos, music, various clips and tv shows as well as porn. Time to get a new one, prob fade a 160 one this time.

no difference in performance just an external does not need to have an operating system. Just plug the shit in and start moving files onto it for storage.

yea i flipped a western digital 120 gig... it does its job, no complaints here. and its not loud at all... the only thing is that most external harddrives need a seperate power source.. so i have to plug it in
