Problem is the Size Shamrock has was aquired by Steroids use, even in his prime he was short winded...I wouldn't expect him to be any different today. Kimbo should just try and keep it standing, and when Ken takes him to the ground...do not use too much energy , relax and ride it out..Kimbos mistake is trying to use Brute force...remember the last fight he was in the Guard and he was using his arms and upper body to get out...thats how he will get tired quickly he needs to use his legs more, and be patient...my 2 cents..

Nick Diaz vs. Eddie Alvarez for vacant EliteXC lightweight title to be announced tonight

Sunrise, Florida – A co-headlining bout on Nov. 8 between Nick Diaz and Eddie Alvarez for the vacant EliteXC title will be announced during tonights’ CBS’ telecast of Saturday Night Fights.

FiveOuncesOfPain.com was informed of the news early Saturday morning by a source speaking on the condition of anonymity.

The title was vacated last month after EliteXC officials stripped then-champion K.J. Noons of the title after his refusal to defend the belt against Diaz, who the promotion had determined to be the number one contender for the belt.

Diaz, 18-7, originally fought Noons for the then-vacant title in Corpus Christi, Texas last November during the promotion’s “Renegade” event but lost after a doctor determined after the first round that he could not continue after having sustained multiple lacerations to his face.

Since the loss, Diaz has gone 3-0 with wins over Katsuya Inoue, Muhsin Corbbrey, and Thomas Denny.

Alvarez, 15-1, is a former BodogFIGHT welterweight champion. The native Philadelphia began his career 10-0 before losing his title to Nick Thompson during Bodog’s “Clash of the Nations” event in April of 2007.

After fighting once more at 170 pounds, Alvarez eventually decided to begin to drop down to lightweight. Following a second round TKO over Ross Ebanez during his EliteXC debut at a January ShoXC event in a 165 pound catchweight fight, Alvarez competed at 155 pounds during DREAM’s lightweight Grand Prix.

During the course of the tournament, Alvarez went 3-0 with wins over Andre Amade, Joachim Hansen, and Tatsuya Kawajiri. After defeating Kawajiri during the semifinals in July, he was unable to compete vs. Shinya Aoki in the finals that were held the same night due to facial injuries. Hansen, who had won a tournament reserve bout, would ultimately go on to become champion after defeating Aoki.

The source also confirmed a previous report by MMAjunkie.com stating that the card will be held in Reno, Nevada. The show will be headlined by EliteXC middleweight champion Robbie Lawler defending his title in a rematch against Joey Villasenor.

While the card has not been finalized, additional sources have also revealed that other bouts planned for the show include a female fight between Sarah Kaufman vs. Kaitlin Young contested at 140 lbs. and middleweight matchup between Scott Smith a standout Judoka Hector Lombard.

It is believed that the winner of the Smith vs. Lombard fight could meet the winner of tonight’s 185 pound opener between Benji Radach and Murilo “Ninja” Rua down-the-line.

Brett Rogers, Cyrille Diabate, and Fabricio Camoes had been discussed as possibilities for the card but are unlikely to be added due to the fact that opponents could not be finalized.

Reports surfaced last week that Camoes would be taking on Yves Edwards in a lightweight bout but the bout agreement was never signed by both parties and the matchup is now no longer expected to take place.

Rogers’ name has been linked to several different opponents, including Affliction heavyweight Paul Buentello. However, Rogers’ camp was never formally presented with that option and as of earlier this week, he had not been presented a potential opponent for the show.

It is also believed that EliteXC officials had planned to match Brazilian sensation Rafael Feijao vs. French striking specialist Cyrille Diabate for the vacant EliteXC light heavyweight title but it does not appear that Diabate will be ready for the fight in time for Nov. 8.

Sources indicate that Renato “Babalu” Sobral was considered as a potential opponent for Feijao but that he would also not be available on such short notice. Feijao is still expected to appear on the show but it is uncertain if his fight will still involve a title.
