I sure do. I love to watch the fights, but it sucks because for so long I completely lost interest in the sport because no fights were televised, besides some washed up nobodies on ESPEN and I couldn’t keep track of who were the real contenders since you had to pay $59.95 to watch a title match. Only recently, the last couple years, have I been able to really start getting back into it and even now, I have to go to a Casino or sports bar to watch a fight because there is no way I’m paying $50+ for a fight that may or may not be entertaining and I don’t have Showtime or HBO.

And I know it’s not just me, my pops used to tell me back in the 70s and 80s boxing was huge, especially when Sugar Ray was around. He told me how people would go to Stadiums and fill them up just to watch a fight on a big screen. Now, the average Joe has no idea who is who and the only time a fight is mentioned on TV is when Tyson fights or is about to fight.

Sooo…

My question is not only if you think PPV ruined boxing, but also for ideas on what could be done to salvage the sport, such as creating some kind of league or…

Fuck yeah PPV ruined boxing. An obvious improvement would be to lower the prices on PPV Fights. Also, the sport of boxing is boring because a fighter fights once every two years. There are maybe 2 or 3 good fights a year, which is way too little. I say make fighters fight more that way they can make more money off of more fights, and then they can lower the price on a single PPV Fight. Crazy capitalism coming out of me, I hate it. But the boxing fan in me wants to see more fights for cheaper.

I personally don’t think we should have to pay a dime. You don’t pay to watch a football or basketball game and you didn’t have to pay for boxing before the late 80's early 90's.

There are of course some fighters who only fight once every two years, but I think that’s pretty rare. Most fighters fight several times a year, the ones with a belt may only fight once or twice a year.

There are also plenty of good fighters and different weight classes to keep us fans entertained all throughout the year. The problem is that no one knows who these good fighters are (besides of course the boxing fanatics).

i dont mind buyin ppvs as long as they are some good ass fights... i think some of the ppvs they sell are garbage . last month they had ray mercer vs shannon briggs on ppv.. that shit should be on espn . its small time promoters tryin to make a fast buck ... but the superfights on ppv , i am down wit it because its worth 50 bucks to me..... im talkin bout some real fighters though.. not joe blow vs semi name fighters.. 50 bucks is worth it to see all star vs all star and a good ass undercard too!!! cant forget about the undercard.. those fights gotta mean somethin too. and most of the time , naw not most of the time , bout half the time , they got some meaningful undercards on big ppvs, let the up n comers shine , also have a title fight , then a big ass main even , thats coo to me

Personally i think that shits kinda wack...Boxing was a poor mans sport to begin with..fools sluggin it out in the center of hella other mother fuckers no rops just a circle of shoutin hollarin mother fuckers.... rich dudes up in the reserved seats
I mean 50 bucks...to watch that shit on tv......I dont even really watch boxing cuz its too hard to track and then have to pay for the real good fights...
Aint shit gonna change though..cuz they are always going to get enough people to pay..once the system gets set up to thier likings...its gonna stay that way

The reason why networks don't put on fights that often in good times is because you could have two hours of time set-up, and the fight ends in the first round, and then, you'll have an hour and fourty-five minutes of the guys just analying two minutes worth of a fight.

I like watching fights on HBO and Showtime, so PPV hasn't necesarily ruined it for me.

Most of the major fights get played on HBO or Showtime a week later, so it's not that big of a deal. But, I would rather them just go straight to Showtime or HBO. But, the boxers get more money by doing PPV then HBO, so they do that more often. They try to make as much money as possible since they never know when there careers could be over.

boxing needs more personality especially in the heavyweight division. Its a shame to see the sport fall because i think boxing is just as entertaining as football. Ain't nothing like watching two great boxers giving it their all.

when a fight comes on PPV, i'm always spliting the costs wit my boys, so i drop $10 or $15, that's nothing........but then the 24 pack, and all that other ish, then it gets to be the same thing, but who cares, it's only $$$

I used to do that too, and that was alright, but times have changed. I dont have digital cable or satalite and you can no longer order PPV if you dont have one of the two (at least here in seattle). So I'm SOL. Most all my comrades that do have digital cable have small ass TVs, so there really is no point watching a fight at their pads.
