Chester Taylor's best carries are behind him. He's 30 years old. His yards per carry have gone down significantly over the past 3 years, all the way down to a 3.6 average this past year. His biggest runs have come on 3rd and forever through massive holes for 15-20 yards, further skewing his average YPC (see: 3.1 avg on 1st down, 3.3 on 2nd down last year). His LONGEST rush over the past 2 years is for 25 yards. He wears down as the game goes on, even with a limited role (when he had 1-5 carries in a game last year, he averaged 4 yards a carry: when he had 6-10, those later carries only averaged a staggeringly bad 1.4 ypc).
The upside that's talked about with him is his role in the passing game. He's a decent receiver out of the backfield, but he has a tendency to CHOKE in that area bigtime when it counts most (see: Steelers game this past season), along with the fact that he still drops easy passes because he gets ahead of himself looking downfield. He's a decent pass blocker and receiver overall, but so is Forte.
$7 million in guaranteed money? ridiculous.
If you're a Bears fan and the Taylor signing really makes you happy, then so be it. I'll be sure to bring this thread back up later in the year when you're disappointed in his production.
