The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with former Dallas Cowboys receiver Sam Hurd on Friday, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Hurd confirmed the news on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "I'm a Bear," he said.

Hurd played collegiately at Northern Illinois University before being signed by the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2006. The 6-foot-3 receiver made six career regular season starts in Dallas and posted career highs in 2007 with 19 receptions and 314 receiving yards.

The wideout missed most of the 2008 season with a recurring ankle injury and caught only 21 passes over the past two years.

He will join another former Cowboys receiver in Roy Williams. Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Williams wants to sign with Chicago when he is officially able to later Friday.

Hurd, an established special teams contributor, should ease the loss of special teams standouts Rashied Davis and Danieal Manning. The Bears are attempting to re-sign Corey Graham, but the defense back has received interest from multiple teams, according to an NFL source.

-Multiple media outlets are reporting that Bears unrestricted free agent safety Danieal Manning has agreed to a four-year contract with the Houston Texans.

- Free-agent wide receiver/special teamer Rashied Davis, who has spent his six-year career with the Bears, will sign a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

-The Bears found a replacement for Brad Maynard when they agreed to a five-year contract with free-agent punter Adam Podlesh that will make him one of the top three highest-paid punters in league history and guarantees he will be among the top five highest-paid punters on an annual basis, according to the Florida Times-Union.

lol roy williams is trash if that shit doesnt hit him in the middle of the chest he aint catchin it
Still, Chicago needs real WR's. When Devin Hester is our #2 you know we ain't got shit for WR's. Other than that there is Johnny Knox, who is fast as fuck and can make some plays but he's not a true #1 WR either. So yeah, I'll take Roy Williams at this point.

don't be surprised when that shit hits him in the numbers and he drops its i should have mentioned that in my last post he is slow as fuck with his routes also but i guess bears really dont got shit
I've seen Hester about 20 yards ahead of the nearest defender with an absolute perfect pass go through his hands on at least 2-3 occasions. So yeah, no biggie.

Hester (5'11) & Knox (5'11) = fast as fuck.
Roy Williams (6'3) = big/tall target.

Chicago needs someone like that.

I mean we're not expecting Jerry Rice here or anything like that, just a missing piece of the puzzle that has been filled for now.

The Bears on Sunday agreed to terms with former Seattle Seahawks center Chris Spencer and announced that veteran center Olin Kreutz’s tenure with the team is over.

Spencer appeared in 80 games with 70 starts in six seasons for the Seahawks after being selected by Seattle with the 26th pick in the 2005 draft. Last season the 6-3, 309-pounder started all 16 regular-season games and two post-season contests at center.

Kreutz, meanwhile, played 13 seasons with the Bears, appearing in 191 games with 183 starts, one shy of Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton’s franchise record.

“Olin Kreutz, we weren’t able to come to an agreement with him,” coach Lovie Smith said Sunday after practice. “You guys know how I feel about Olin. He’s been a great Chicago Bear for us. But every year is a different year and a different team. You have to move on, which we are going to do.

It seems likely that Spencer will step in at center. But he also has experience at guard; he made his first NFL start at left guard in 2006 and opened the final three games of the 2009 season at right guard.
