my internets been running slow for the past few days.

google searches and simple pages still load pretty quick. siccness and pages with more stuff load a little slower. and video or audio streams and downloads are just serio slow.

ive tried all these solutions that havent worked, but one i suspect might work is changing my routers wifi channel.

so i run the airport utility to change the channel but it says it cant find any airport wireless devices and to make sure its plugged in and my comp is close enough to it. it is plugged in and my comp is feet away from it (im connected to my network and am online so obviously the plugs are connected and my comp is close enough to the modem and router) so wusup with that???

am i missing something? has anyone dealt with this?

people have pc problems so often, we should make a official thread about it and vital it.... oh wait....
LOL! woops. i never noticed that thread. ill take it over there thanks.

obviously. you didn't even try using sand to fix it...

you could have at least attempted to troubleshoot this kind of thing on your own first. smh.

it's common sense.
been trouble shooting for the past couple hours dumbass. ill try the sand thing next

try runnin adaware

and use a program called peerblock so that your avoiding unneeded connections to your machine

also stop lookin up dirty midget hooker porn involving peanut butter and nylon rope and you might avoid this problem in the future

appreciate the advice. i like porn and all but dont download it. and i have a mac so peerblock dont work for it anyways. i dont think i have a virus. i hope not at least. my comps running fine, its just the net. i think i might be in a congested wifi channel but like i said, my airport utility wont let me access my router to change channels...so im kinda stuck. ive tried all kinds of other shit from reading mac forums. im just too lazy to open up an account in one of those forums...and they dont seem to have much users.

thanks anyways leg breh

If its just your internet being slow than the defragmenter wont do much.

But if you can find out what type of router you use, i could get you the ip
to get into the settings if you dont already know to be how to change the channel your wireless signal is sending through.

But as far as the websites go, the siccness runs slow for me at times and my computer is always fully optimized when i turn it on. What is making the siccness slow is the traffic at certain times. Same with youtube and what not but those
"traffic" jams dont last long.

But if its an every day thing then you might want to change the channel on your router to get a stronger more isolated signal or try to change your internet proxy settings to see if anything has been enabled with those. Since they are disabled on default for most internet browsers.

thanks loco. youre right, thats what i tried to do last night (got the router ip, put it into my browser to get into its settings). but then i ran into a wall when admin/admin (default username and pw) didn't work. the guy who lives here must of changed the default settings so ive got to ask him the new username and pw.

hopefully changing the channel solves the prob. but the fact that downloading a pdf last night at like 2am took 5 minutes (when 4 days ago would have taken 15 seconds) concerns me it might be a more serious problem. ill have to wait and see. good thing is aside from the net, my computer still runs great

Well sometimes the code to get in is either

admin:admin
admin:pass
admim with no password

But if you can physically touch the router, hold the reset for 10seconds and it will
restore everything to the factory settings where 1 of those will work.

right now shits still slow, but a little faster than last night. for the past 3 days its been going from super hella slow at certain times to just abnormally slow at others
