UTEP at Houston
If you like offense, then look no further. Keenum is a Heisman sleeper and future NFL draftee who can put up gaudy numbers. While Vittatoe didn't look great against a FCS opponent, he is still dangerous and with Buckram coming back from an off-season injury, expect a barn burner.
South Florida at No. 8 Florida
Florida struggled MIGHTILY on offense last week, racking up a cool 27 yards in 3 quarters. Yes, you read that right. However, their defense looked good...but USF is no Miami of OH. B.J. Daniels looks to build on last year's performance while Brantley has to live in the shadow of Tim Tebow.
Colorado at California
Only here because this is a preview of upcoming Pac-10 games in 2012 between these two schools. Expect Cal to put crush the Buffs.
Michigan at Notre Dame
ND's lauded "high octane offense" put up a mere 23 points against a rebuilding Purdue team. However, the defense looked sharp and they are going to need some of that against an old time rival in Michigan, who looked like a Rich Rod team last week.
No. 7 Oregon at Tennessee
Tennessee is rebuilding, and it gets even harder when left high and dry by your former HC. Oregon put up a staggering 72 points with more than 700 yds of offense against a very bad NMU team. To make matters worse for the Vols, James will be back this week after being suspended. Wait, Oregon did all that WITHOUT their Heisman candidate?
Montana State at Washington State
I only put this here because WSU could very well lose this game. Yes, it has gotten that bad in Pullman.
Mississippi at Tulane
Ole Miss lost to a FCS team AT HOME last week....which has to make the football world think that Tulane is actually FAVORED in this game. Can Oregon reject Masoli help redeem that pitiful performance?
Virginia at No. 16 USC
Virginia is pretty bad, but USC just got 39 points put on them by a WAC team...who actually could have won had they not shot themselves int he foot a number of times. Hawaii put up over 500 yds offense on the Trojans. Can Virginia's lame offense even come close to that?
No. 25 Stanford at UCLA
UCLA's offense looked pretty bad last week against a team that will most likely finish in the bottom half of the Big 12. Now, they must fend of Heisman candidate Andrew Luck, which wont be easy. Stanford whooped on Sac St. last week, but the run game was non-existent. That wont be a good sign against a pretty good UCLA defense and doesn't bode well for an entire season. Stanford needs to run to take the pressure off of Luck and the defense.
GAME(S) OF THE WEEK
No. 17 Florida State at No. 10 Oklahoma
Big time matchup that reminds of back in the days when real teams played other real teams instead of FCS teams. Oklahoma went a pedestrian 8-5 last year breaking in new signal caller Jones, who had a very shaky game against USU...a game they NEARLY lost. FSU is riding high hopes of relevancy in a new coaching era, with Ponder at QB.....one of the best in CFB this year. They will attempt to best their very bad defense of last year by trying to stop Murray for UO.
No. 12 Miami (FL) at No. 2 Ohio State
Again, more nostalgia with these two "old school" powerhouses face off, with two very good young QB's in Harris (Miami) and Pryor (OSU). This game is most likely going to come down to defense, and OSU is always stout in that department. Can Miami match their stoutness away from Hurricane country?
No. 18 Penn State at No. 1 Alabama
More traditional powerhouses banging heads on Saturday, as return champs Alabama fend off Big-10 champ hopeful PSU. Alabama is without Engram, which makes this game much more interesting.
