CHRIS JERICHO, MICKEY ROURKE APPEAR ON CNN'S LARRY KING LIVE IN NEXT STEP TO WRESTLEMANIA SHOWDOWN, TEASE STIPULATION MATCH
by Mike Johnson @ 9:49 PM on 1/27/2009

On Larry King Live, Mickey Rourke and Chris Jericho both appeared to promote Rourke's appearance at Wrestlemania XXV. Rourke discussed his comeback and said the highlight of the experience was that the wrestling community had embraced the film, bringing up Ric Flair and Vince McMahon in particular.

Jericho appeared via satellite and said that Rourke did a great job and "made no mistakes" in his role of Randy the Ram. Jericho said the film made a nice representation of the minor leagues and what it's like on the way up and the way down, but not what Jericho does in WWE. He said Rourke made a mistake calling him out on the red carpet of the SAG Awards. Jericho said there's a difference between playing a wrestler and being one in real life. He said Rourke got some bad advice and his story would end differently if they stepped in the ring.

Rourke said "he may have put his foot in his mouth." Rourke said wrestling was Jericho's world and he wouldn't step into it but could take Jericho in a "boxing match or a bare fisted match." Jericho smirked and said Rourke should be careful what he wishes for because he may just get it. Rourke said he was going to take the high road and said that he respected Jericho. Jericho responded saying that he wasn't going to do that and didn't respect Rourke. He warned Rourke that he might think he knows the wrestling world but he really doesn't.

Jericho closed out saying, "I'll be seeing you, Mister Rourke. I'll be seeing you."

Mickey Rourke won't rumble with WWE superstar

HOUSTON (AP) — A spokeswoman for actor Mickey Rourke says he won't be taking his role as a professional wrestler into a real-life ring after all.

Paula Woods told The Associated Press on Wednesday night that Rourke will not wrestle WWE superstar Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 25 in April at Houston's Reliant Stadium.

Woods wrote in an e-mail that the Oscar-nominated actor "will not be participating in Wrestlemania. He is focusing entirely on his acting career."

Rourke portrays professional wrestler Randy the Ram in the acclaimed movie "The Wrestler." He made a surprise announcement about the wrestling event Sunday night on the red carpet before the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles.

Rourke had said he was going to toss Jericho "around the ring like tossed salad."

This story is flipping more than a live fish being grilled on a charcoal barbecue pit

Vince McMahon himself has issued an official response regarding today's news of Mickey Rourke pulling out of a proposed match with Chris Jericho at WrestleMania
XXV. The WWE Chairman issued the following statement to www.EOnline.com: "I am pleased that Mickey Rourke will be in attendance at WrestleMania to support the WWE Superstars who support him and the film in which he stars, The Wrestler.

He is not going to do it because it was said he would NOT win the Oscar if he participated in Mania.
thats just what people say, that it might ruin his chances. but i think thats dumb as fuck, some outside shit should not affect his performance in a movie.

but anyway pay attention to the wording on that press release you posted. it says he will be in attendance, for all we know hes jus gonna be chillin front row....but we will see.

well telling by that article he needs to win that oscar more than he needs to be in mania. Think about it if an A list hollywood celeb, lets say will smith participated in mania the reprucussions would probably be pretty bad let alone a guy like Micky Roerke who finally got his breakaway role. Winning the oscar would make him an the A list hollywood star he should have always been according to the critics who compared him to marlin brando when he first got into the business
