When the name DJ Premier comes up in hip hop circles, it's pretty much a general census that the DJ/Producer is a legend and one of the best to have ever done it. With a long list of credentials and countless classics, this man has delivered time and time again and in the eyes of Public Defendaz, is a key contributor in hip hop's progression. So for the groups "Mixtape Premier", they decided if they we're going to rap over previously used beats, they would do it in a way to pay homage and show respect. Because as with both DJ Premier and Public Defendaz, "Reputation is the Cornerstone of Power." The outcome, an eclectic combination of raps over classic hip hop beats from the California based crew Public Defendaz.

The group known as Public Defendaz is a diverse collection of talented musicians who represent their personal views through the lifestyle and music of Hip Hop. The group started in 2006 when five individuals came together and formed Public Defendaz. Their purpose, to bring audiences a quality of music that directly reflects the word of the people. By combining their driving forces of lyrical wordplay and versatile productions, this group from various regions of California band together to preserve Hip Hop's true elements. The group consists of Oktapu$, Royal, J4RD, Taktical, and IyayI.
