since the couture/toney fight been hearing alot about this but isnt there no point to even debate? i mean MMA is EVERYTHING including boxing, werestling etc. that would be like saying jujitsu vs mma or wrestling vs mma. i mean yeah there are better boxers n boxing than mma but that goes the same for theres better blackbelts in jujitsu that would never make it big in mma like ronnie yaya or however you spell it. the point i'm trying to make is i dont think its even comparable considerinG UFC is Mixed and in that mix boxing is involved.

The debate seems to only exist in the minds of idiots and those that make money in one of the sports. Just like every other individual discipline you're going to have people trying to transition that are at the top of one sport that's a bust in MMA. Does every kickboxer that converts have a career like Cro Cop? Does every high level NCAA or Olympic wrestler have a career like Brock Lesnar or Dan Henderson? Does every high level BJJ blackbelt get to the level of Demain Maia or Jacare? Absolutely not.

It'll be the same story in boxing. Some guys might be able to convert and be highly successful and some guys are going to have an MMA career like Marcelo Garcia, one of the best grapplers of all time, got that ass kicked by Dae Won Kim or like Peter Graham who went 2-5 in MMA or Kevin Jackson who ended up 4-2 after coming in as one of the best wrestlers to enter MMA.

there is no debate. It's something people talked a lot about a few years ago when UFC/MMA really started to blow up but after the dust settled I think the vast majority of people realize it's two different sports. Boxing is boxing. It's the art and science of boxing. MMA is mixed martial arts. Two different things.

It's kinda sad that Toney vs Couture is hyped to be boxing vs mma because it's an MMA fight with a former boxer who's been learning MMA for about 6 months or so. That's it. On top of that Toney is a shot fighter, 41 years old and has been in over 80 fights, going back to 1988 (not including amateurs). Randy, well shit he's like 47 now and although still semi-relevant, he's a faded version of himself as well.

Both sports are dope. Both sports have their pluses and minus.

It's been discussed over and over and everyone is correct. I completely agree with everyone here and there is no reason to bicker back and forth because they are 2 completely separate sports.

So, I guess we just have to use how much the fighters earn as a tie breaker.
Oh!!! Smells like smoke? That's right. Cuz someone got burned!!!

*waits for the Siccness MMA fan team to unleash fury*

In organizations with refs, rules, and regulations = No Difference
On the street = MMA would win easily

Both are just forms of entertainment, and everyone should remember its no more than that. Like I said above though, theres no way a boxer would beat a professional mixed martial artist on the street..And I enjoy Boxing more than UFC...

lol why would I trip. I enjoy both sports. I watch boxing because my family is Mexican, & Mexicans are die hard boxing fans. Well my pops & uncles to say the least. Mma though, I prefer to watch more cause I love all aspects of the game. As to who gets paid more, I give a rats ass.

yea boxers get paid more bc been a worldwide popular sport for many many years.... now look how long mma has been getting its shine... showtime wit strikeforce.. ufc spike and ppv dominants right now... and its only been this lil chunk of time that we get to see mma as a sport getting regulated in more and more states.. while boxing is sloooowly fizzling down... boxers and boxing fans gotta realize there is a new breed in town... and the money is gonna shift sooner or later.... watch

with that said... i still love boxing... i was a boxing fan since birth and will be till i die... mma just came in and caught my attention as well...

Apples or oranges?
Two completely different sports.
And I love'em both....

Anyone looking to get into MMA with just one discipline under their belt is fucking delusional.
And Retribution, unsanctioned or not, the advantage will always go to the mixed martial artist. Whether it's in a ring, cage, or in the street....

so people didnt read what i was saying i guess. i'm not asking whats better but saying how are they even comparable? i mean boxing is in MMA hence the fact MIXED MARTIAL ARTS. and boxing is boxing. i just dont get it. why not compare BJJ vs MMA or something if that was the case. trust me guys i know how dumb it is to compare but thats why i made this thread to see who else agrees with what i'm saying.
