No doubt they're both super stars in the making, but what turns off alot of ppl to broner is his attitude about the game. I know dude is tryna market himself like that, but thats not how u go about urself. Theres your difference. Its not hating, it has to do with class and broner has zero.
U just admited my point. Its pure hating because they dont like Broner. U judge and rate a fighter on his skills not his personality. People said the same thing about Floyd and now look at him. How is it wrong. Maybe thats how he is? All people arent boring fighters with boring personalities. U can hate him or like him but dont say he will lose or not be a star because he is flamboyant. It has nuthin to do in the ring. When he is in the ring he is about business and goin to work! Got Em!!

lol I think Broner will get beat and yeah, he'll probably be a superstar too though before that happens. Shoot, at this rate, Russell will only fight 2 title fights before he retires though so I guess I'm totally wrong.
Atleast u can admit it and be real about it now. I hate certain fighters myself but if they are good Ill still give props. Hatin and rating are to different things lol. Got Em!!

Who's hating on broners skills though? He has them, everyone admits that. However people like myself question how good he truly is because of the weak opponents, there is a lot to be desired as far as quality goes. Same is true for Russell. As Chris already pointed out he's been brought along at a snail's pace. He was prospect of the year in 2011 then proceeded to beat no one of note in all of 2012, so yeah the man needs to step up and fast (I believe he will this year).

The injury set Russell back but an injury also set Adrian Peterson back and he was the MVP lol Russell should be banking title defenses already. I can't stand Broner's persona but he's obviously a good boxer with great reflexes and power and defense at times. But I'm just not buying that he's Floyd 2.0 until he starts beating someone that warrants that type of claim. Even waxing Brandon Rios at 140 wouldn't convince me. If he cleaned out 140, then we'll talk.

Russell might not actually be a "superstar" ever at this pace. He doesn't really have the personality but in terms of skills, they all seem to be there.

Yeah I hate the Mayweather comparisons. He may have a similar stance but Broners footwork is actually pretty poor. Very wide separation of feet, most trainers will tell you never to do that. Floyd's footwork is impeccable. Not only at a young age when he used a lot of mobility around the ring, but even now when he's a bit older and doesn't use the ring much his feet are always perfectly planted and he's a master at keeping just the right amount of distance, Hopkins is another guy great at that.

Plus, we don't have to go over this again but when Floyd was his age he already beat some really great fighters.

Right.

Broners wide stance gives him power which has worked marvellously up till now. Why? Because the guys he's fighting are right in front of him. No movement. You stand in front of Broner you're a dead man. One day though broner is going to fight a guy with good footwork, someone who can turn broner by using lateral movement. What does that do? It makes Broner have to reset and if he's not set it takes away his power. That's when you strike. Luckily for Broner there aren't too many guys around him that can test him like that. The old Pacquiao who used footwork, bounced in and out and turned his opponents would be a nightmare for Broner. The only other guy I can think of is Gamboa. Really fast hands, really fast footwork and he can use lateral movement when he wants too.

I also think Rios would present problems. I think subtle defensive moves that Rios makes (though he's also there to be hit) would allow him to land some counters against Broner which I can't stress enough, Broner leaves his mouth open as he's punching. Like Rios or not, he's a damn hard puncher with a great chin and keeps coming. I doubt Broner's handlers ever let him face someone like that but even against someone like Provodnikov, he would be in some trouble just on the strength of what I just said. That's why I hate the whole "he's beaten everyone they put in front of him" arguement for any fighter when there are fighters they could be facing but simply aren't. I also think Garcia would beat Broner at 140, as well as Matthysse.

A Rios fight would be dope since he's his own size and can take a punch but Im not sure he's the guy to beat Broner. He fights too much in a straight line that's target practice for Broner. Good fight but I'd probably lean towards broner.

Matthysse, now that's interesting he does more subtle things than Rios and is more technically sound.

Still not of these guys at 140 use much movement. Garcia a little bit but I don't really remember him using good lateral movement.

None of them really do but I think Broner is there to be hit more often than he should be. He has good defense at range when he can see the punches coming. He doesn't use his feet as much to make guys miss, it's more just leaning back. I think he's gonna face someone with a good left hook and be in a lot of trouble. I don't know that movement is the answer to the riddle, I think it's aggression. When he's in that defensive posture from what I remember, he doesn't do a lot of off of that unless the guy isn't punching in front of him, then he comes with the uppercut most of the time.

The problem with the guys that I named is that they can all be beaten with lateral movement. So if Broner just decides he wants to box and win at range, I think it could be done. Could he keep that up for 12 rounds though? IDK

That would actually be really stupid to me as a fan but probably the most commercially viable thing for him to do. 140 is loaded with tough competition that boxing fans would demand yet 147 presents bigger money with less risk in some of those cases. Case in point, Malignaggi.

lmao Hopkins is a fool man, apparently Hopkins barely moved an inch the entire hour plus presser, refused to talk at all and immediately left when it was over.

From Fat Dan:

Bernard Hopkins sat straight ahead for an hour-plus press conference at Barclays Center on Wednesday, without moving even the slightest bit. Was he trying to psych himself up, or psych his opponent Tavoris Cloud, out?

There was no opportunity to ask Hopkins that, or anything else, as the 48-year-old blew off a chance to speak at the podium and instead strode right out of the press conference for his Saturday-night fight in Brooklyn, still staring straight ahead.

[...]

But on this day, with his eyes covered by sunglasses, his head covered with a sweatshirt hood, and a balaclava-type mask covering his mouth, Hopkins’ silence spoke loudest.

After he left, co-promoter Richard Schaefer, of Golden Boy, which has an exclusive deal with Barclays to stage pro bouts, said he's never seen Hopkins like this.

"I've never seen him in this mode for a press conference," Schaefer said. "You could feel his intensity coming off of him. I've never seen that."

Trainer Nazim Richardson gave a hint of what was to come when, during his turn at the mike, he said, "Bernard Hopkins has already left the building, but ‘The Executioner’ is still here." Schaefer then invited Hopkins to share, but Hopkins gestured to Richardson to speak in his place.
