no need to rush things, Broner is not even in his prime yet. yall talking about him like hes a vet in shit, hes just building his resume. big fights are around the corner, first things first. I dont like when fighters get in a division and leave after 2 fights, doesnt make any sense to me.

I usually don't either but in this case there is literally no one worth fighting at 135 and he already seems really big for the weight class. I mean what's the best fight for him at 135? Ricky Burns or Vazquez? I have no problem if he wants to stay a little longer it's just not worth it imo.

Yep. Oklahoma is horrible for that and that's why I was really surprised to see Grady Brewer do what he did, especially at his age. There isn't much boxing talent outta Oklahoma. That's why I encouraged that kid from the gym I used to train out of here that's signed to Top Rank to go somewhere else to train. Top Rank wanted him to be trained by Freddie Roach (even though I don't think he's that great of a trainer) but he didn't want to. He said Freddie is too busy, but I said he's definitely better than the trainer he has now and the biggest benefit would be the level of sparring he would get far eclipses the fights he'll have in the next 2 years. I haven't talked to him in a few months but I'm curious what he decided to do.

Yeah its like that in a lot of the smaller areas. Here in Washington I've seen two local stars grow good records without beating anyone of note recently fight on HBO and Showtime and got blasted. That's part of the game though - promoters love these local guys with big records , makes it look good for them to "look my fighter just beat a guy who is 25-0".

That's the best ur friend can hope there staying - building a good record and being fed to some rising star. You gotta move to a boxing city not just for a trainer but to spar and learn from quality fighters.

Well, the thing with him is, he isn't that guy. From day one, Top Rank has had him fighting in Texas and on undercards of pretty decent fights. He's only had one pro fight in Oklahoma. He's fought on 2 Chavez Jr. undercards, once on a Pacquiao PPV undercard (one of the off tv bouts) in Vegas and I think once in California already. He was like a blue chip prospect with his amateur record. He won't fall into the same thing like Commanche Boy
