Oakland artist Baby Jaymes grew up immersed in the sounds of the old school, R&B and funk artists of the 70s and 80s. As a result, his unique sound, affectionately coined "ghetto retro", is heavily influenced by the artists of that era: Sylvia Robinson, Smokey, Aretha, Marvin, Tower of Power, Sly Stone, and other R&B pioneers.

Baby Jaymes earned his stripes in the nineties writing and working closely with several members of the Tonies camp and other San Francisco Bay Area bands. His accomplishments earned him tracks on the "Any Given Sunday," "Malibu's Most Wanted," and "My Baby's Daddy" soundtracks. Clearly, Baby Jaymes is on his way to stardom.

Today, innovation is the name of the game for Baby Jaymes. On his horizon are collaborations with legendary Funkmaster George Clinton as well as a proposed project with Raphael Saadiq. His sound is constantly evolving as he grows as a writer, singer, and musician. He is currently in the lab putting the final touches on his soon-to-be released joint titled "The Ghetto Retro LP."
