IMO, USC should not be at #1. I'd have my top 5 like this:

Oklahoma
Georgia
Florida
USC
Ohio State
i dont think there should be any ranking at all until like week 5 but looking at who each team has played:

georgia beat georgia southern, central michigan
oklahoma beat chattanooga, cincy
ohio st beat youngstown and ohio
florida beat hawaii, miami
usc beat virginia at virginia

usc has made a case for number one being that they went and played a decent team on the road for their first game of the year while every other team played a cupcake at home (for at least their first game).

Yet I could make a strong case that Miami would beat Virginia, and handily.

I agree about your thought on it being early in the season, but I think that the best team in the country, the NUMBER ONE team in the country, is Oklahoma right now, so I'd give them the spot.

I'm a big Florida fan, and the only team that really worries me right now, besides Georgia, is Oklahoma. If Florida can get out of the SEC, they'll face Oklahoma for the title, IMO.

I didn't say that Oklahoma would beat them, because I think at the end of the season, Florida would do to them what they did to the mighty Buckeyes 2 years ago, when Ohio St. was on top of the world.
