Rest easy Jacka!

I recorded a song with him back 2009 and i never put it out due to depression and all that. When i saw him a few times afterwards he would ask about the song and if i ever do a music video to it to let him know. When 2015 came up, i told myself i was gonna re-polish the song and make a music video this year. I regret not doing it sooner... He was definitely a good man, very humble and a funny dude! He will be missed. a legend gone.

I'm seeing a lot of hypocritical post from a lot of people. Before The Jacka passed many of you were stating he was whack, laughing at some of his videos, instigating funk, but today he was the best in the Bay / Mob Figaz and a Legend smh.

This should be a lesson learned how fake some of you can be. I don't know if it's due to a lot of new members or what it is, but this site used to be a hard crowd to come in here promoting anything. I was seriously intimidated coming in here at first promoting my album. Back then the feedback / chastising held boundaries and was real. Today it just seems to be pointless at times and it sound like a bunch of elementary kids in here. Trust me, I have plenty of kids, so I know LOL!

When artist like Berner, AP.9, Killa Tay, A-Wax etc. come in here. Think about this situation. Let's grow up a little bit and keep your online bravery / stupidity to yourself. Learn how to control your drinking and drug use before you come online and make an ass of yourself.

Don't wait for a situation to get real to snap you into reality.

With that said, my condolences to The Jacka's family.

R.I.P.
lot of that is just talking shit and then when something real goes down, people drop the bullshit and speak truth. i find a-wax fans annoying. so i know over the years i've said things about him or sidebusted to get a rise out of them. however to be honest, he's an amazing artist. dope lyricist.

Zumbi of Zion I said:
I first got hip to the Jacka thru his song "Barney (More Crime)." I was infatuated by his marriage of complex street narrative mixed with genuine spirituality. It tripped me out, and made me a fan for life instantly. Now, I can generally appreciate street music, but I don't get down with gratuitous hyper violence. What Jacka brought to the game was the dichotomy of striving for something more, while still being stuck in the downtrodden stress of the hood. His music is real to put it bluntly.

I first met Jacka at the Hella Fresh at the Fillmore in the year 2005. He came backstage without an entourage, humble and eager-eyed. We exchanged pounds and he expressed how excited he was about Hip Hop just being in the Fillmore. I immediately recognized why I connected so deeply with his sound. Here was a man who completely embodied his words. He was not a studio thug, but a sensitive and articulate artist embedded in street culture. His posture was relaxed and his words were genuine. He was down to earth and super chill. I knew that I wanted to work with him in some capacity, because the respect was instant, tangible.

Since that meeting, we've done dozens of shows together, including the Fresh Coast tour in 2009. I got to know him on that tour as easy going, and hella funny. He was just real. He was one of those authentic souls that has been thru the fire. I have found his character to be a rare gem in a sea of imitators, haters, and bullshitters.

We also recorded two songs together ... "Dream" on his Tear Gas album, and "Dank" off of my Vs. mixtape. The crazy thing is that I had tried to get him on the new Zion I EP to drop a verse on the song "Unity," about the tension between the police and the black community a month or so back. He was never able to send the verse, so I just figured that I'd catch him on the next round.

Last night, I realized that there would not be a next round. I am in shock. I am hurt. I am deeply saddened that this man has been taken away from us, and mainly, his family. I wish that we were angry at his life being taken, instead of just being sad. The senseless murder of our young men takes many forms, and they all sicken me.

I will remember my brother. I will not forget what he has given me, us. I pray that we here in the Bay Area can begin to stand together truly unified under the banner of our culture. We need to rep his spirit like he always repped for us. To the Jacka, I salute you big bruh. You will be missed. Rest in power...my brother.

Paul wall showing mad love to jack every day since it happened. Check his FB.

One thing I'm kinda disappointed about , although hes not entitled to, it's sad to see awax and other rappers not come shown their respect although they may have had some issues. It's time to put the bullshit in the past and grow up ppl.

I'll never forget that session at 17 Hertz bro. He introduced me to that Lean...had me leaning for 2 days. LOL He told me about that shrimp story and had me dying!! I ended up doing a couple other things with him, getting him some $ opportunities, and he was always appreciative. I never asked for anything, but he always made it a point to remind that he was there whenever I needed something or If I needed him to get on a track. That's the type of person he was. 100% SOLID

R.I.P. THE JACKA

Like I said in the other thread. I remember buying their album and never heard of em but since c-bo presented it I snagged it up and loved their music ever since. I remember bumpin secret of the 5 over and over. I have alot of great memories while listening to that album and brings me back when I listen to it. I turned alot of people on to them when I bought that. Friends I had were were like man, who is that? That Shits tight and alot of them still bumped their music to this day
