Tech N9e’s Something Else Is The No. 2 Rap Album In The Country

The Strange Music Release Also Enters The Charts As The No. 4 Album In Country, Behind Only Robin Thicke, Five Finger Death Punch and Jay-Z

August 7, 2013

(Los Angeles, CA) Tech N9ne’s Something Else enters the charts today at the No. 2 rap album in the country. It sold 58,324 copies its first week, also making it the No. 3 Independent Album in the country and the No. 4 album overall on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, behind only Robin Thicke, Five Finger Death Punch and Jay-Z.

In addition to its commercial success, Something Else is one of the most critically acclaimed albums of Tech N9ne’s career. ArtistDirect.com gave it five out of five stars, raving that Something Else is “one of the year’s best albums and a landmark for himself and the genre.” HipHopDX.com gave the album four out of five stars, saying that “it’s an incredible album,” one where Tech N9ne “took big risks that will pay off, as Something Else will surely be a contender for album of the year.” “Big and bold the whole way through and with nary a stumble, Something Else is another triumph from Tech,” is how AllMusic.com describes the project in its review, which netted four out of five stars.

Congrats, I just hope people keep buying the album. That number should have been higher in my opinion... Around the 70K+ region. I know not everything is a literal number but he has almost 2 million fans on Facebook and over 300K on Twitter.
Happy that he is still going strong and music quality music.

This is kind funny, the whole talk about "selling out". He's still the same guy, going through the same motions as ever to create his best work yet. I have changed a lot in the past year, and thankfully enough, I haven't had a lot of people bitching at me to go back to how I was because I was fucking miserable.

If you take his perspective, you'll better understand the path he's following on.

You're getting too wrapped up in the images. It's the MOST accessible way to gather mainstream attention. Once he has their full attention, it'll pass and he'll be on to the next thing.

I hate the pledge, and Tech never asked me to say it to him, or ask me his allegiance to his "movement" or "message". Maybe it makes the imagery and flash easier to look past because I know him, but it's really all for show. Sure, he has a quotes section in his show where it goes down, but he's not walking the lines before the show asking folks to say it to him personally.

It's the non-juggalo way of sustaining and pigeon-holing a fanbase. It's really fucking smart from a business sense. It's just like a slogan at a fast food chain. I bet you'll never forget McDonald's slogan even though you don't eat there.

So this guy reviews the album.
Big fucking mistake.
First off he hates juggalos and anything related to them in any form or fashion.
Second, he respectfully disses and dissects the entire album and Tech's personal life and matters.
Third, I think he heard about that critic bad mouthing him, then having lunch with him, obviously trying to do the same thing and gain Tech's attention.

That dude is a fucking tool, I've seen his other reviews and I hate his over inflated ego and false fucking sense that he has some superior hip hop knowledge when you can easily tell he's some fag who essentially goes with the core trends in hip hop to please the majority of viewers.

I saw in one of the comments that this Anthony dude really liked Waka Flakas album. That right there tells me everything I need to know about his opinion. Anyone who thinks Waka is a good rapper is a fuckin moron and has no credibility when it comes to judging other MC's

Lol, did he confuse Big Scoob with Trae The Truth. Last time I checked, Scoob doesn't rap fast..

Lol anthony, you can tell when he reviews music he really knows nothing about and just names drops a bunch of shit. On some google wikipedia cram session then shit out a review.
Some of his reviews are good but some it's too obvious he has no idea.

I really love this album. True evolution from tech. No trash sex songs and the narcissism is turned down a bit. I Really appreciate some of the songs that are about more than partying and sex, has sort of a political feel.

Burn the world, that's my kid, meant to happen and believe are some of the best songs tech has ever put out.

Tech don't burn Bibles and doesn't believe in burning bibles... Why would he want a lyric like that in the damn song?!?! Secondly if you like listening to one of your favorite artists make depressing music then maybe you got some shit of your own to work on...

i know you swing rather hard from techs' nutt sack so im willing to let a lot of your bias opinions go, but the section i have in bold i refer back to "horns". gordy went in on "jesus" in his lyrics and that seemed to be ok on a tech album...unless the word burn is far greater than a entire verse?

I don't swing from shit... What I stated was fact. People grow and change... Sometimes they make a decision that was a result of a mind state at the time. Dude thought he was gonna lose his mother and he was mad and hurt at the circumstance. You will notice that alot of the KOD element has disappeared altogether. If life has its way it will probably appear again at some point and then you bitches will be happy. IF YOUR VIEWS ON LIFE AND WHAT YOU DO AND DON'T ALLOW IN IT DON'T CHANGE OVER TIME YOU ARE A FUCKING LOSER.

the last time I heard Tech talk about the King Gordy lines, he shrugged his shoulders and chalked it up to artistic freedom.

If he didn't like Serj's line and had it changed, who fucking cares?

The guy was in a different mind state at the time and was on a "fuck everyone" kick, and probably couldn't give a fuck less if it stirred some emotions.

It got publicity all of about a week, and then people remembered that's what Gordy does.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse by saying he lives his music mind state.

Rezin: Yeah I agree 100% the guy jumps into a review quicker than teenagers trying to make cover videos about tech. Is unprepared and completely bias when it comes to hip-hop.

Slapp-E: He did confuse the two, which in turn confuses a lot of new comers or even non-listeners which is which.
