Since this argument is taking place in a Steelers thread, I guess its worth pointing out that Steelers fans have been consistently voted #1 best fans in the NFL...........................
I seen that, too. But we're talking about loudness, not how large the fan base is. Here is an article:

The National Football League is by far the most popular league in all of sports in the United States of America. Since it is so popular it isn't terribly shocking that fans of football are very into the sport. One of the best ways for a fan to try to help their team is to be loud while the opposing team has the ball at a home game. It is very true that in some instances the crowd is the difference between a win and a loss for a team. The ability to hear the quarterback is often compromised by the raucous crowd, which is very tough for a team to deal with. Having said all of that, which stadiums in the NFL are the loudest of all?

Five Loudest NFL Stadiums.

1. Qwest Field (Seattle Seahawks)- This place goes absolutely nuts when their Seahawks are on defense. Notoriously in November of 2005 the New York Giants were whistled for a ridiculous 11 false start penalties because of the amazing crowd noise. Any head coach will tell you that 11 false start penalties is a recipe for a loss. There is a reason they are called the 12th man.

2. Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City Chiefs)- Give the Chiefs fans credit, despite what has been a lackluster team performance over the last few years the fans just keep showing up and getting extremely loud. This is the fourth largest stadium in the NFL and it continually sells out, but it isn't just the number of fans that is so amazing, it is the passion they show.

3. Lambeau Field (Green Bay Packers)- The Packers faithful are extremely serious about their football, and you'll know it by the end of each game. The frozen tundra of Green Bay often swallows up opposing players partly because of the weather and partly because of the deafening crowd noise.

4. Metrodome (Minnesota Vikings)- The Metrodome holds 64,121 people, and because of how closely packed in all of these fans are, it sounds as if there are far more fans than that. The Vikings faithful have helped the team to a very impressive home record over the last few years. Every opposing player worries about crowd noise when coming here, which is exactly the point.

5. Gillette Stadium (New England Patriots)- It seems as if Gillette Stadium knows when it is most important to get loud. During the regular season the stadium isn't nearly as loud as the playoffs, but when opponents roll into the stadium in January they will leave with their ears ringing.

The Advantage of a Loud Home Field.

The loud home field advantage is absolutely a major key in an NFL game. Communication is key to every team, and when a team is unable to communicate as well because of the crowd, it makes life much more difficult. The best sports fans will do everything they can to make their team win, and getting loud when they are at the game is definitely the most crucial!

But like it was said before, Seahawks' stadium was made to amplify sound and it does it well.

Here's Heinz Field:

Here's Qwest Field:

If you're arguing loudest stadium, its definitely Qwest. If you're arguing loudest fans, it's not so easy.

i'd have to disagree...back when the Chiefs defense was so potent in the 90's, everyone and their mommas knew Arrowhead was easily the loudest place to play in the entire NFL. It has been solong that we've been relevant that people tend to forget just how loud that place can get when we get to rockin.

The Colts play in a dome, the Saints play in a dome, the Rams play in a dome, and none of their fans were labled as loud ass fans like the Seahawks fans were when they played in the Kingdome.

KC and Seattle can have the loudest fans. The Steelers play damn near 16 home games a year. You got 1 loud spot..
teams who have alot of trophies with fans spread out all throughout the country 80% of the time, those fans are indeed....BANDWAGON FANS!

its to easy to pick the winning team at the time to cheer for instead of sticking it out with the team in the area you reside regardless of wins or losses isn't it?

im not saying this is you Vamps, im just stating the obvious is all. What really grinds my gears is the lack of pride one shows in where they are born n' raised when it comes to sports teams.

fuck all bandwagon fans! man the fuck up and ride or die with your cities team no matter what!

I agree

I don't see how people can pick a team in a completely different state... sometimes across the country and... "that's my team"

if your family is from that city and your pops raised you to root for that team, I'll give you a pass... otherwise fuck em

I could easily declare that I'm a Steelers fan and talk shit to all the Raiders and Niners fans here in the Bay... but that would be gay as fuck

In honor of Vamps, this week I'm hoping:

-We commit to the run game, grind it out, and prove to ourselves we can run the ball 25-30 times a game for big yardage.
-Dennis Dixon shocks America
-Ward, Holmes and Miller exploit the Baltimore secondary
-Rashard Mendenhall breaks Ray Lewis' collarbone
-Ray Rice meets the Steelers linebackers, but nets me enough fantasy football points for a win.
-D line applies enough pressure on Flacco to make him release early
-Secondary feeds off the D Line's pressure, forces big plays, stops giving up big plays in big situations late in the game
-NO RETURNS FOR A TOUCHDOWN
-Ligashesky gets shot in the Inner Harbor
-Arians gets shot in the Inner Harbor

Good shit Stealth..

This week I'm hoping..

We can consistently move the ball by running it with Mendenhall and Parker
Lebeau keeps pressure on Flacco all day
Woodley has his biggest game of the year
The D scores 1 TD
Special Teams plays at an NFL level
Dixon doesn't turn the ball over
When it's all said and done, we win, even if it's by 1 point

Off the Grid
Discipline Bruce Arians

Bruce Arians play calling before the end of the 1st half was some chickenshit! I blame Mike Tomlin too, because he needs to override that conservative bullshit! I understand Ben and Troy were out, but there still is no excuse. If we could have got at least a FG before halftime, the game never would have made it to OT...

With all that being said, I'm positive Pittsburgh will still get a Wild Card spot. They should be healthy going into the playoffs and hopefully these coaching mistakes are taken care of by then!

Arians called some plays like he already expected to lose.

Dixon looked nasty. Too many penalties on both sides. O line did a great job at pass protection. Even Reed threw his body into a tackle on kickoff return.

6-5 looks pretty wack.

I saw a couple Pitt names this weekend too - Clint Session with a TD, Stephens-Howling with some good kickoff coverage, and Tyler Palko riding the bench against Joe Flacco when Flacco had to leave Pitt because he was second string to Palko.

All in all, Steelers played better than I expected under the circumstances, but now I feel like a bottom feeder congratulating my team for how well it played in a loss.
