Suge Knight’s family has released an official statement on the shooting, indicating that while Knight has lost a lot of blood, he is currently in a resting state. The message also asks that Suge be treated like a human at this time, as his negative media portrayal tends to overshadow him.

The family of Suge Knight ask that you keep Suge in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media. Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he’s human. He’s done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that.
Reports from TMZ indicate that police suspect gang ties are related to the shooting, citing both Suge and Game’s affiliation with the Bloods. Chris Brown was also pictured with a red bandana at the event, and was said to be throwing up “gang signs”.
