Man Paul Richardson really balled out that was nuts.
Thomas Rawls looked really good but something looked different about the O line during the game.
I got a chance to do some research when I got home / sober up lol - but it appears that the Seahawks went away from their zone blocking system and went to a more traditional blocking system.
Its hard to say whether we looked good because Detroit sucks or maybe our guys are better suited for more traditional blocking and not the zone?

Field Gulls mentioned that getting away from ZBS would be better for such a young group that isnt used to that system. And it looks like they were correct, at least in the run game. Also, check this out:

Bugs me that Seahawks had the 2nd seed locked up but just had to lose to the Cardinals. And now instead of a home game it's a road game against high powered Atlanta.
But at least it's not a 10am game, those have all been losses in the playoffs. And if the Seahawks win as well as the packers, well fuck - Packers in Seattle NFC Championship rematch.
What sucks is not having Earl against this offense.
Still, the last time they played Seahawks defense basically shut down Matt Ryan for thee quarters. It was just that God awful third quarter melt down that kept the game close. If they can run the ball well again, got a good chance.
Wilson is now 8-3 in the playoffs. That's more playoff wins than the Detroit Lions have in their entire history. Seven other teams don't have as many playoff wins as Wilson. He is now #16 all time. In just 5 years. I think he passed or tied Eli Manning, which seemed crazy to me but after thinking about it really Manning just won those two years they got the super bowl, that's 8 wins since they were wild card teams, that's it. Few more years and Wilson will be in a very elite group.

Seriously! I mean we damn near slid ourselves all the way to the 4th seed.
I didn't feel a sense of urgency from the team to win which could be both a good and bad thing. On the positive side hopefully it means they really don't care where they play so home field wasn't a big deal to them.
On the negative side, that is stupid because data suggests otherwise and home field does help.
Probably a combination of some guys not playing hard, the line just playing terrible in a couple of those games and maybe a little late year fatigue that sometimes creeps up on teams.
I don't know about the AZ game but against SF you could see guys not caring at all. I know that game didn't matter but still it was fairly obvious and usually you don't see that from this team but whatever, the playoffs brings out the best in this team. Even in all their playoffs losses they played extremely well in the second half, typically after bad first halfs.
And that's what I'm paying attention to this game - will Pete Carrol and Co have a game plan to use up a lot of the clock and actually be able to execute that plan in the first half where the game is at least manageable, or is it going to be a first half disaster? They can't afford the latter since this year, for whatever reason, they just don't seem capable of pulling off those crazy come from behind games, they nearly did once, but that was it. I want to see some smart play calling by Bevell. I'm worried about that too because even in the last game with Rawls huge game, that seemed to come by surprise and you could see it early on they kept calling pass plays on short downs even though Rawls was playing great, it wasn't until it became very obvious Rawls couldn't be stopped that Bevell started calling nonstop running plays. idk if that's necessarily a good thing or a bad thing, just that Bevell seems reactionary. My fear is them having a couple three and outs and Atlanta getting a nice lead and then they neglect running the ball.
