First off all let me say, by ear Id say Yukmouth put a lot of effort into making this album. Its proven by his lyrics and his beats.
If this album doesn't sell 100k, there's something wrong here. With the regional features it should sell more. If the radio doesn't pick up the anthem "Welcome to da Bay" or "Im So Cool," there is something wrong. If Yuk doesn't get a video on TV, or a write up in the source, or any magazine considered "Biased," they are really fuckin BIASED. The truth is, if this album does not take off, there must be some sort of conspiricy against him.

It's being distributed by a major label (Rap A Lot.) It has hot and original production. Yukmouth's lyrics are DEEP as fuck (Coasta Nostra, Desperado, Neva, etc.) and his flow is saucy too (Dem Can't Win, Top Thugg, Da Lot.)

Not only that, but the album is versatile. "Welcome to da Bay" and "Im So Cool" could be instant hits on the radio. He has thugged out cuts, a bay anthem, lyrical songs, fast beats, slow beats, good features (from folks WE know like Lynch, Bo, Messy, Mac Dre,Knumskull) to folks we have never or rarely hear (Lil Ron, Nyce, Big Bear).

I can honestly say when I heard this album all the way through I was satisfied with my 14.99 purchase. Yukmouth has always been a favorite, but to see him continue to grow as an artist and continue to make good music is dope. I'd give this album a 9/10...its the shit. Artists like Yuk are the epitome of our idea of a bay area rap artist.

We need to continue to support bay area people that turn out hit after hit, like Yuk, Done Deal, Sessed Out, WCM. Maybe one day people will see the shit we do in them, because albums like this are basically censored by big business because they are independent labels, not Sony, Def Jam, etc.

Madd Dogg: I agree with you 100%. I originally signed that album at Bayside becauase of how well put together it was. Rap-A-Lot stepped in and wanted it after they heard it so they bought the rights and now its out.

The only problem with your hopes are that #1. Rap-A-Lot is NOT a major anymore, they are distributing much of their product now via independent distributors and #2. the album sold a disappointing 5,100 copies the first week that sets this album to do about 40K or 50K.

Rap-A-Lot does have MAJOR dough though.

Peace.

I just picked up my copy last night and I'm feeling the tracks I've heard so far. It's dissapointing to hear he's only sold 5,000 units so far. Maybe the album needed a little more hype building up to the release date. I mean I heard about it coming out in like June, but it never came out until October and then all of a sudden I see it at the record store. Hopefully more ears will hearing and sales will go up. Yuk puts in a lot of work and he deserves to get paid.

Late!

RAP-A-LOT has one of the best lineups in the rap game as a label but they distribution and marketing is horrible!!! Reminds me of AWOL a few years back. So is YUK really on CASH MONEY??? Holla.

i agree with you totally 100% man but at least get that yukmouth quote from ugoa in your signature right lol. its "so i pistol whipped and robbed niggaz...what goes around comes around cuz i ended up gettin shot nigga." i remember a few days ago some dude posted lyrics to the 'fuck friendz' song, and like half of that shit was incorrect, lmao. if you guys think yuk is so sick when you dont even understand half of what he's sayin i wonder how tight you would think is he is if you actually heard every word. lol. same with keak...if square ass kids actually knew what he was sayin and was talkin about...everyone would be jockin. people just aint on the level though i guess.

RAP-A-LOT did not do a very good job promoting SILVER AND BLACK or the new TELA album either.

really doesnt matter to me, pop or rob implies the same thing in his verse, that it is gonna come back to him, so yes, I do understand what he's saying.

SMOKE-A-LOT

Everyone already said it. It was put together well. It has all time hitters with the songs and the mixture of artists on a track. Luniz, Messy Marv, Mac Dre. Lynch, Keak, Yuk. and the last track, PURE THUNDER! Independent artists need to plan more. Set the release date. Then hype, promote, advertise, posters, snippets, flyers, etc. for a couple of months before the date. Try to create some preorders. You gotta hit the road and the streets. If all is done right, then, this album should sell well over a 100 thousand. RAP-A-LOT, do the damn thang! Cause an album like this doesn't come often. And the LUNIZ too.

shit is one of the hardest cd's out, some of the beats was laggin and i know it was a comp but i would have loved to see a few more solo's on there.

its like the """"KEAK DA SNEAK""""" farm boys shit, those cats couldnt hang with keak they should have never even been on a track with him.
