SARASOTA, Fla. -- An attack on a referee at a youth football game could spell jail time for some coaches and players. The incident happened at a high school football field in Sarasota, and it was caught on camera.
The video shows the coaches and a player running after the referee and tackling him to the ground. The players were around 13 years old.
Eyewitnesses said that earlier, one of the coaches was arguing with the referee over a call.
'Not only is it disappointing, it's a criminal act. We are investigating this situation criminally," said Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight.
School district officials said the team will not be allowed to play anymore games at the school
