that whole pay for performing is why kansas city got a fag ass rap scene in the first place. everybody aint a fuckin dope dealer, some of us got real 9-5's. lemme guess, the ticket is around $500 for a short ass 8 minute set right? thats why this place will never get on. the hustle out here is hustlin each other for paper. and u artists that pay for it are idiots. all them people who gon be at that show could give 2 shits about you, they are gonna be there for young jeezy. sorry bout the rant...

real talk, my group just threw a show last wednesday at the 400 club in warrensburg, damn near 200+ came out to the show. we put some other acts on the show and guess how much we charged them? A BIG FAT ZERO. and the people who came out had a fuckin ball and guess what? they will all remember who was at that show cuz they came to SEE US perform, not a major. i would rather have 200 people come to see me than have 2000 people waiting for me to get off stage so they can see who they came to see. when kansas city stops doing eachother like this, then it will be poppin. THERE IS NO INDEPENDENT SCENE OUT HERE. stop screwing each other with this show charging mess and CREATE A TRUE INDEPENDENT SCENE. and yes, our music goes dumb hard, check myspace.com/BLACKICECLICKK for the proof. hard to pump it when the odds are against ourselves, but hey, we created this jacked up environment...

Fuck paying to get on a show...we've done it in the past and vowed to never do it again. Now if it was paying to be on a tour or something then I would consider it.

You have to understand this though...promoters often take a large financial risk bringing performers into town cause you never know what the turn out will be. They in turn sell opening slots as a way to spread their risk out over more people...it makes sense financially.

Anyone that knows me knows that my moto is "slow and steady wins the race," and I would rather book my own show that 100 or so people show up for rather than perform for 1000 people that are just irritated to see us. I personally think it's better to actively build a real fanbase instead of paying to essentially pad your resume and get your name on a flyer.

That's what Freix thinks.

^^^agree 100% with ya. if cats would take that money they wasting on these bap ass shows and pump it into themselves i swear they would see a better return. why even bring in a major? if someone is a real promoter that throws concerts then cool. but if you a rap nigga, why spend the scratch to bring a nigga out when you could use 1/4th of the cost of a major to truly promote an independent rap show? like really promote your show on the radio, with the flyers and all that. make the general audience believe that its finna go the fuck down at your show and watch the results. im from the bay, and if you look at how other regions do stuff, they throw their own big shows like the super hyphy series and the main acts are LOCAL. no pay for play in '08, blow ourselves up ya dig?

WOW....My dude David of NO ID outta ATL is the one that brought Jeezy to STL & will be bringing him to KC( from what Ive been told the date is 3/22 NOT 3/15) but they charged for acts to get on the STL show and it was all good till Huey got up on stage and fucked shit up for the opening acts.

Everyone has a point here from both sides.
