LOS ANGELES -- A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the greater Los Angeles area at 8:39 p.m. Sunday night and was felt by many in the surrounding areas.
The epicenter of the quake was at 33.940°N, 118.338°W, around 1 mile east of Lennox, 1 mile south by south-eat from Inglewood, and 10 miles south by south west from the Los Angeles Civic Center, according to the US Geological survey.
The rumbling lasted about 10 to 15 seconds and was also felt in from Calabasas to Long Beach. The depth of the epicenter was about 8.4 miles.
There are no immediate reports of injury or damage, but the Los Angeles Fire Department is currently operating in earthquake emergency mode.
