As far as rapping itself...Id say Rakim was the most influential rapper. Kool G. Rap and Big Daddy Kane also played a big part in creating a whole new standard of rapping and lyricism. I think those cats were more ahead of their time than any rapper has ever been. Almost every rap style we have today evolved from what these men brought to the game in the late 80s.
