Community leaders have been meeting with traders in the Lozells area of Birmingham in an attempt to allay their fears over gun crime levels in the city.
The move follows the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in the area earlier this week.
Mohamed Sabir was shot from behind in Lozells Road, Handsworth, at 2240 BST on Monday.
Mr Sabir, who was married with two children, was seen talking to three youths outside Aziz Pizza and Kebab shop when he was shot with what is believed to be a machine gun.
