In 2011, Yelawolf released his highly-anticipated debut album, Radioactive.After receiving comparisons to Eminem, Yelawolf signed to his imprint, Shady Records, late in 2010. Yelawolf was signed to Shady Records, alongside the popular hip hop foursome, Slaughterhouse.

Yelawolf, a native of Alabama, already had a large fan base on the mixtape scene and this translated into his mainstream success. Among the artists Yelawolf was compared to includes Paul Wall.
