Columbia recording artist Xzibit was attacked at the weekend by a group of gang members in what was described as a cowardly attack. The unprovoked attack was instigated after gang members recognised who Xzibit was on a night out in Los Angles. The gang was apparently not happy with the 'gang related' lyrics that X spits on his albums and jumped him.
Xzibit was out with his fiancee in LA without bodyguards when the attack occured. He required medical attention and received around 50 stitches. Despite widespread speculation, the incident while serious, will not affect his rapping career. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The attack comes after weeks of specualtion about Xzibit's career. The rumour mill has him trying to leave his current Columbia / Sony Records recording contract to join up with Eminem and Shady Records. So far, word is that Columbia will not release him from the deal.
