As my love of rap music has grown, so has my love of the old stuff that so much of rap is based on. I started collecting samples a few years back, now it's a pretty good collection. I decided to try and put together a little compilation of some classic samples that we now know to appear in some of our favorite 2Pac cuts. A lot of these tracks the people on here will be pretty familiar with, so if you like a lot of these rap cuts, I strongly urge you to download these originals, they're just as hot as the rap stuff.

Props.

The chorus and other parts from California Love were also sampled/inspired by West Coast Poplock by Ronnie Hudson & The Street People which I think was inspired from So Ruff So Tuff from in around 1982 because he say's So Ruff So Tuff in the track. The track also has parts from Zapp's '82 single "Dance Floor."

Almost forgot, Joe Cocker - Woman To Woman is where the main melody in California Love came from. I'm pretty sure California Love was sampled from all together 4 different songs which are below.

Joe Cocker - Woman To Woman
Roger & Zapp - So Ruff, So Tuff
Zapp - Dance Floor
Ronnie Hudson - West Coast Poplock

Thank you very much for this information, I had always wondered where the heart of that beat came from, now I know it's the Joe Cocker track. I appreciate it.
