Microsoft's senior VP spills the beans.

On this week's Major Nelson podcast, Microsoft senior VP Don Mattrick revealed that the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV will also have unique multiplayer elements exclusive to the 360.

"It's an amazing piece of software, and I'm really excited with its downloadable content and online multiplayer support - again, that's something that's unique to 360," he said.

"We think consumers are going to love that, and it's going to create what I would describe, again, as the premium experience on our platform."

after that statement this was released:


Rockstar: Both versions of GTA IV will have an online multiplayer component

Earlier it seemed as though Don Mattrick had let slip that the 360 version of GTA IV would have exclusive multiplayer elements. Rockstar have responded saying that "both versions of Grand Theft Auto IV will have an online multiplayer component."


360 will only have the exclusive episodic content. the rest should be the same.

That still makes it sound like that the 360 version could have exclusive types of online multiplayer.. Yeah, PS3 has an online multiplayer component, but when took into account with what Matterick said, it sounds like the 360 will just have certain elements unique..

Maybe not though.. Maybe his quote got taken out of context.. Maybe he meant having both online play and downloadable content was a 360 exclusive, which isn't news at all.

everybody knows damn well you still gonna be run an gunnin' the shit outta this game regardless of a multiplayer. honestly, all bullshit aside how many of you muthafuckas gonna put this game in your system an just go multi right off the bat? HONESTY!, nobody..

your gonna wanna know the characters this shit brings.. your gonna wanna know the crazy ass missions cats want you to do.. your gonna wanna find all these lil ass things that make you wanna play hours an hours.. and then? and then? AND THEN you'll hit the multiplayer.. and if you do it any other fuckin way your retarded. my 2 cents.. put em in your piggy bank

Have you played multiplayer on the psp versions? I only got up to 3 players at once (usually just 2), but it was fun as fuck. I will definitely start by driving around the city then proceeding to go to multiplayer. after that I'll do the missions, and also see if that unlocks more multiplayer things like the psp versions did. I mean I love doing the missions, don't get me wrong, but I'm dying to see how the multiplayer is. if its done right we could have one of the best games ever!


I wonder is there an OFFLINE multiplayer as well?
