Anyone going to X-FEST (Modesto) today? [7/22/06] It starts at 5:00pm and goes until 2:00am.
I went last year and it was okay, not as great as I thought it could be. For those that don't know, they block off downtown Modesto (where there are several bars/clubs) and approximately 15,000 people show up for a night of heavy drinking. There are supposed to be 40 bands, radio stations, the bars and clubs will be going as usual, plus whatever the city could muster up.
109 Degree forecast + $30 Ticket + expensive drinks/food = Me not going this year. You could drink 2 beers in this hot weather, fuck around and kill someone. The clubs still have a cover charge like you didn't just pay $30 to step foot on the streets. The bands are entirely crap - the main headliner is Smashmouth and I'm pretty sure he canceled.
It's just not worth the time, money and agony.
