Comcast To Launch WWE 24/7 On Demand

World Wrestling Entertainment® and Comcast, the nation’s leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services, will launch WWE®’s subscription video on demand service, WWE 24/7 On Demand, this summer. The new SVOD service will be available to nearly 10 million Comcast digital cable customers with video on demand across the country.

This agreement paves the way for WWE 24/7 On Demand to be available to millions of WWE fans nationwide, and establishes this service at the forefront of digital television products in the subscription and VOD categories. Comcast’s footprint adds coverage in 22 of the top 25 U.S. markets, including several areas where WWE pay-per-view and live events have historically performed extremely well.

“With this agreement, WWE 24/7 On Demand is now firmly established in the on-demand platform across the United States,” said Peter Clifford, Vice President, WWE Distribution and Affiliate Marketing. “We’re excited to be a part of the Comcast ON DEMAND line-up, and look forward to some incredible marketing and promotional opportunities for our fans in Comcast markets throughout the next several months.”

“WWE 24/7 is perfect for SVOD because it’s non-linear content that you can’t find anywhere else, it has an incredibly dedicated fan base, and the WWE has proven expertise in delivering a targeted marketing message tothese fans,” said Matt Strauss, Vice President of Content Acquisitions for Comcast. “We are very excited to be teaming up with WWE and adding this great new content to the thousands of on demand programs we offer our customers every month.”

WWE 24/7 On Demand delivers all the best wrestling – all day, every day – from the world’s largest professional wrestling video library. Favorite superstars of yesterday and today -- like Bruno Sammartino™, Andre the Giant™, The Rock® and Triple H® -- are all available on demand as well as:

* Classic matches and Championship bouts, many of which have been available only on pay-per-view until now

* Superstars of the WWE, NWA, WCW, ECW and more

* New, original specials and shows

In addition to Comcast, WWE 24/7 On Demand is distributed by Cox Communications, Insight, Rogers Communications and RCN. WWE also recently announced that WrestleMania® 23 will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 1, 2007, one of Comcast’s key markets.

the question is, even if you do have digital cable, will they be providing the on demand for wwf for free, or would you still have to pay for each match/event? I know there are some things on demand like movies for hbo/starz/showtime, etc, where if you have the channels, you can watch the movies they show, on demand, free.

how much does this run? i might have to get it
I checked the price plan at Cox Communications in San Diego. Its $6.95 a month for the Subscription Video On Demand. I wouldnt imagine it being more than that with Comcast either.

Sounds like a good price.. Especially if they get it up by next month. I was checking out the site, and it's ECW month, I guess.. They have a shitload of ECW going up next month.
