WWE: Management springs surprise urine tests prior to TV tapings
Wrestlemag.com @ 5:49 am
Prior to last night’s combined RAW and Smackdown! TV tapings in Memphis, TN, the entire WWE roster underwent their first urine test for the WWE Wellness program, according to reports at PW Insider.
Mike Johnson reports that none of the wrestlers on RAW and Smackdown! were informed of the test in advance, and first found out about it once they were at the venue for last night’s tapings, and were instructed to provide urine samples for those in charge of conducting tests, including Dr. David L. Black of Aegis Sciences Corporation, Nashville, TN, who is leading the team in charge of the testing.
The results from last night’s tests will be considered by World Wrestling Entertainment to be “baseline” levels with no action taken against those testing positive for illegal and prohibited substances. Under the Policy, the results of last night’s “baseline” test will be compared later on with future tests by WWE and Dr Black’s team in order to determine whether usage of banned substances are continuing or if levels within WWE performers are dropping.
