TDM is a Pro tools system, and there are specific plug-ins for that format, I'm pretty sure the plug-ins moslty run off a card.

Native is Plug-ins like VST, MAS that take processing power from your computer. So if you have the motu products, plug-ins won't be powered from the soundcard

at this point i'm guessing:
TDM = external hardware interface (ProTools HD, MOTU 828/896)
Like Big J said TDM is refering to Pro Tools Mix and farm cards for there pro line series ( Pro Tools LE is native based ). Basically the mix farm cards plug into one of you comp's pci slots and has dsp chips on them which handle all track's and plug ins, so no strain is put on your comp. One extra thing about tdm though, is you can still run native plug in's from your comp, so say you only have 1 or 2 mix cards in your comp and you run out of plug in power, you can still use your comp to run more plug ins, limited only by how powerful your comp is.
