ITS SOMETHING YOU WOULD HAVE TO ASK EACH ARTIST..
MOST LIKELY YOUR NOT GONNA GET THE TRUTH.. LOL..
AS FOR MYSELF.. CALL IT PUMPIN MY OWN SELF UP OR WHATEVER..
BUT I THINK ALOT OF FOO'S SUCK..!! THEY MIGHT SAY THE SAME FOR ME..
SOME I JUST DON'T LIKE HOW THEY CONDUCT THEMSELVES..
MANY MANY REASONS..!!

i wouldnt got as far as to say no unity. I mean i myself aint in the homeboy rap game but it seems we have a lot of bay rappers doing songs with people from the 559 and 831 thats big right there for a bay rapper to take his time to go south to the valleys and hit the studio. you cant expect everyone to want to rap with each other. but i guess i kinda know what you mean as there is room for more unity.

ill tell u the real, most artist think that theyre on another level than the next. they personally feel that the game owes them for things they have never done. local stripes in the hood might make a guy think hes a rapper when hes a rider or vice versa where a rapper thinks he has stripes for making music. most dont see past their own ignorance and keep a one minded aspect on the game until it comes to supporting them. every artist starts on the same page though. they get in the game as a humble respectable person who is easily approachable for networking and helping to get the word out on who they are or what their doing until the day they reach that 1st level of noteriety and from there they become monsters in their own mind. as a distrubtor i got in the game to help my people and further what we did as a movement because lets be honest no one is gonna do it for us unless they get paid , but i wanted to bring a home to a well deserved genre of music that previously did not have one or even have a name. in the process i learned not to start business for your friends and assure your own finances before you try to help others. but straight up the music game is a business and not for fans or people who want to help (unless your a promoter) but now at the level its at people dont understand its a business . u cant expect anything from anybody in this game , if you think some homeboy owes u a verse because your a homeboy your serioulsy mistaken. do you ever go to the liquor store your frinds own and walk out with product or go to the wal mart your friend works at and say your a homie you should cover it.no you dont so as a businss you shouldnt ever expect anything for free, your cd is gonna sell for 5-10$ a pop and you want people to buy your FIRST cd with the help of a crutch in form of a feature. think before you expect. and also with the hundreds of people who rap now and rhymes 2 sentences your music better be extremly fuking unique , dont think the old red bandana and old english letters gig is gonna work forever. hbr needs breakthoughs to go to that next level, if not this genre would be no different than the southerners who all rap.
my 2 pennies
no love

I don't know about comparing homeboy rap to a liquor store your friend owns or walmart this is norte there's politics you dont pay a homie for having your back when shit pops off if you just a rapper then yeah charge for verses but if you a norteno and if any thing you should be kickin some bread to the homies in the pen for usin the norte to sell your albums shit even if you slangin in the hood they hear about that shit and will get at you I seen it happen that's how I feel on this subject and why i would never charge a homie but that's me

[ Bay Undaground.com ] : I don't know whether you had an opportunity to read our interview with Crooked from April 2008, but he speaks on lack of unity on the northern Cali scene. Have you had an opportunity to experience that?

[ Yung Lalo ] : I read all the news about northern cali cds here and ya I read it. Good read too, but I'm very sure he meant it tours the lack in northern cali rap in general, not just homeboy music. But hell mutha fuckin ya, I've experienced that and I swear on everything, it's always the same people man. It gets real fuckin old, cause these "super stars" be chargin young homies that are tryin to come up and obviously don’t have much to start off wit. And it's not what they're charging to me, cause shit that ain't nothing, please belive its nothing, it's that we gotta help each other out and some of those homeboys that are on a higher level don’t even try to fuck with us and when I say us I mean the newer rappers from northern cali. We don’t get help, so we help ourselves and come up. Look at me, I’m coming up right, but as for other rappers that charge, that are none northern chicano rappers, than shit charge, I aint got no problem with others chargin for the whole reason to me they're worth buying a verse from. And as for me, I've obligated myself to never charge a homeboy. I don’t give a fuck if I get signed to Dope House Records, Darkroom Studios, Made Sicc, Blackwall Street and Rap-A-Lot at the same time tomorrow. I ain't gonna charge a homeboy trying to come up. I know how it feels to get turned down when you show love to some of this this cocky ass niggas and get told 250+ bro and don’t even say "ay homie, thanks for the love". When that happens to you, than you start losing respect and support for that rapper, that’s why I try my hardest to show love to all the homies that show it and try to get on shit. I get respectfully get asked to get on, cause I don’t want other homies to feel what I've felt. When people hit me up I show love back and let them know what's up, you feel me. And trust me homie, I ain't bitchin about this. I don’t need them homeboys that charge and don’t even show love back to the people that have always supported their shit. I got Darkroom that’s been down with me since day 1 and for real what northern rappers gets bigger than that. Check this out bro, I'm gonna quote one of my favorite rappers on this song "My Reason" by T-Nutty, he says: "I don’t care about a feature from a rapper that’s known / I'm the flowmastermouth I got fans of my own". What right there is some real ass shit, when I heard that I was like it don’t get no realer then that, and as for lack, ya there's a lot of lack of unity, but only within the same rappers, outside of that we got a lot of homies comin together. Sooner or later the cocky will be on the bottom and the down to earth will be on top.
