WTF, my computer won't go on standby

I press the standby button and it says "The service 'Microsoft.NET Framework v1.1.4322 Update' is preventing the machine from entering standby. Try stopping this service and try again."

Anyone know what this is and how to fix it? Thanks.

Hmm.. I don't ever remember downloading some update. I started with .net framework 1.0 uprgraded to 2.0 and then 3.0. haven't had a problem yet...

it happened to me last night.

if its still happening to you i can show you the process that is running on your pc that is preventing it from going into stand by. all you have to do is end it and the pc will go into standby just fine.

i'm still looking into it, and im thinkin of seeing if i can keep it from running permanently.

standby/hibernate...why not? why shutdown the pc all the way when you know you are going to come back to it in a short while..?
