SALT LAKE CITY-- A Utah man was instrumental in bringing two '90s icons to Utah for a concert some fans have been waiting 10 years for.

MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice are performing together at the McKay Events Center in Orem Friday at 8 p.m.

Since the early '90s, people have been trying to get them back on stage. Utahn Sam Salisbury, owner of Rock Star Shows, finally made it happen.

"I said, ‘I know Ice's manager. I know a guy who works with Hammer. They haven't done it for 20 years. Let's do it. Why not?'" he said.

So Salisbury made the phone calls, tracked down the funding and organized the entire event.

And yes, Hammer and Ice will play some old hits like "Ice Ice Baby" and "U Can't Touch This."

Burrell was born in Oakland, California. From 1972 to 1980, Burrell served as a batboy with the Oakland Athletics under colorful team owner Charlie Finley, who lived in the Midwest and for whom Burrell was his "eyes and ears."[1] Reggie Jackson, in describing Burrell's role for Finley, took credit for the "Hammer" nickname:

Ron Bergman, at the time an Oakland Tribune writer who covered the A's, recalled that:

“ He was an informant in the clubhouse, an informant for Charlie, and he got the nickname "Pipeline."[1]

are those ticket prices?!...for mc hammer?! i like comedy/ironic music acts, but thats way too much money for hammer time
