The A's are only 3 back and have 10 games left, 4 against the Angels...

Last year the Angels were 3 back with 9 games left and 3 against the A's...

Yeah, what the fuck do you mean what happened to the A's? We're still right in it considering we have 4 games next week against Anaheim. And given it's very possible that we take 2 of 3 in this Texas series and we gain a game or two over the weekend we're lookin' at possibly bein' even or 1 or 2 games behind for the lead.

Botton line: The A's could very easily still win the division...

A's still have a chance, just not a very good one.
If Anaheim wins 6 of the next 9, mathematically the A's are out.
If we just go 5 and 4, the A's have to go 9-0 just to tie it.
Exactly. Two more with sorry ass Tampa, and three more with our daughter Texas. And we all remember what Anaheim did to the A's last season in Oakland.

It's over :knockout: :knockout: :knockout:

"Sorry Ass" Tampa Bay won the first two series the Angels played against them this year.

Angels are hot right now. I don't mean to speak to soon (top of the 9th) but they are about to win their 8th straight game.

A's were able to capitalize on the Rangers pen, keeping them within upset distance for the division.

Yeah, the more y'all keep winnin', the slimmer our chances get...Looks like we gotta sweep now most likely...damn it's gonna be tough...

BUT ANYTHING's possible... :devious:

One more win at Oakland and we take the AL West!!!

I wasn't too fond of the home plate ump tonight. We both got pretty bad calls. Oh well...

What's up with the attendance in OAK? 19k and plenty of boo's from the crowd.

It still isn't over yet...

I know they have a weak attendance, but this is do-or-die for them and no one is there to support them? There were MORE people at Angel stadium wishing the players good luck on their final road trip, several hours after the game was over.

Play-off tickets sold out within hours, strictly being sold on-line.

How are the managers supposed to dispense higher pay-rolls when they most likely cannot generate the revenue to compensate for it?

It's not like that's a new thing in baseball... Same thing is happening in Chicago this year... Cleveland has it even worse...

The Angels didn't have nobody going to their games either, until they won the World Series...

Angels Attendance
2001: 2,000,919
2002: 2,305,547
2003: 3,061,094

But it's not really tickets that make the money for payroll... It's the broadcasting and licensing... The A's are on a radio station that became a Christian station this year and their flagship TV station is the last independent TV station in the Bay Area... That's why they don't have a lot of money for payroll...

So before and after we won the WS, we increased attendance by 50% (2 mil to 3 mil).
If the A's did that, the attendance would go from 18k, to 27k, which is still weak.

Attendance has a big role in revenue. It's not just the seats, it the food, drinks, and the other items (shirts, jerseys, hats, etc) that all Tally up.

On a broadcasting note, KCAL is about to drop the Angels in 2006 and pick up the Dodgers. I still haven't figured out why they are doing that. Maybe Arte wants too much money.

Game 2 tonight.
Should be a good one.
Santana - Will either be an ace tonight, or get smashed on.

The A's average attendance this season is 26K not 18K... They draw 2 million a year.

I've read it in interviews w/Billy Beane or Wolff before (I forget which one)... They said the real money is in broadcasting and advertising... If they can make more off that they can boost the payroll...

I will take your word for it. Broadcasting and ad's bring in the revenue. Hopefully you guys can sign some players, but the A's play great without the high salary.

PS-We clinched!!!!!!!!!!!!
