MTV: Results from last night’s Wrestling Society X pilot tapings
Wrestlemag.com @ 12:52 pm
MTV staged their pilot Wrestling Society X tapings last night in Los Angeles, CA. The following report comes courtesy of Socalwrestling.com. As we reported yesterday, Delirious pulled out of the taping due to being unhappy with having to sign an exclusive deal to appear on future shows should MTV pick the show up for a full season. As we also reported, Delirious could well be TNA bound.
Also yesterday, PWG champion Joey Ryan announced he was pulling out of the tapings last night as he too was unhappy with having to sign an agreement that would tie him in with MTV. Ryan is keen to attract interest from WWE.
Results as follows:
- Human Tornado over Altar Boy Luke and Puma
- Jack Evans over Matt Sydal, after a sick 630 off the top rope.
- Vampiro and Sean Waltman won the 10 man ladder/over the top rope elimination match, which was a combination Royal Rumble/Death Match. Every two minutes, a new wrestler would enter the match, with eliminations as the result of a wrestler being thrown over the top rope either through a table, into what was described as a “tricked out electric box", or onto a chain-link fence rigged to explode. When the match got was down to four wrestlers, ladders were put in the ring, with the remaining participants having to go for the two contracts above the ring for a title match.
2 title match contracts were suspended over the ring. Wrestlers in Ladder Match: Vampiro, Sean Waltman, Teddy Hart, New Jack, Lone Star, Kaos, Puma, Al Katrazz, Justin Credible, Chris Hamrick. Vampiro and Waltman are thus supposed to face each other at the next show to be crowned the first Wrestling Society X championship.
- The show was held in an abandoned brewery, purposely made to look run down, with a lot of attention given to make it look like a “fight club” underground kind of atmosphere. The turnbuckles were covered with towels and duct-tape, there was no ring apron exposing dirt and debris and some lights and a fog machine under the ring.
- After the Human Tornado over Altar Boy Luke and Puma match, fans had to wait about half an hour for the band to play because of what was termed “a local noise ordinance” which made them wait until 6:00 pm. The band turned out, however, to be Black Label Society, which many present found worth the wait.
